Overall, I’m just so pleased with this Chromebook. It looks great, feels great, is fun to use, and it outperforms any Chromebook I’ve ever used by a long shot. I’d reckon that if ASUS had put a bright panel in this and kept the $569 price tag, I’d be ready to label it the best overall Chromebook you can buy right now. It just gets so much right and it has me excited to see what future Tiger Lake Chromebooks bring to the table the rest of this year and very excited to be able to easily recommend picking up this CX5 if a bigger Chromebook is your thing.

That being said, the screen is too dim to use outside on a bright day, plus the reflective nature of touchscreens can also cause problems in that environment. While the keyboard is decent, the small keys on the number pad make it feel too compromised to be useful, especially when it spoils the Chromebook ethos of simplicity by skewing the design off to one side. Worst of all is the rough edges around the edges of the keyboard plate, which feel like a weak point in the construction and could quickly become an issue. If you want power and a large screen, then the Flip CX5 delivers, but it does so with some curious caveats. One to try before you buy if you can.

The elephant in the room to all of this is the CX5’s price: $828.99 is well outside of what most might consider to be Chromebook territory. But that projection is often, in part, based on the assumption that Chromebooks are cheap hardware, and I’d remind people that this price isn’t egregious when it comes to well-built Chromebooks — and I do think this one is well built. Consider the Pixelbook Go. A Pixelbook Go with identical specs to my test unit is $999. Google’s device is thinner and lighter than the CX5, but it also has a smaller screen, fewer ports, and an older processor, and it doesn’t flip around. It’s not clearly a better purchase for everyone — it’s certainly not $170 better for everyone. I think if you’re someone who prefers Chrome OS to Windows, and you know that the former will suit your needs, the CX5 isn’t egregiously priced. It’s a solid performer with a unique design — there are legitimate reasons to prefer it over a midrange Windows laptop, regardless of the operating system it’s running.

Why The Asus Chromebook Flip Cx5400 Is Now My Everyday Carry

Look, I know I’ve just rattled off a bunch of good individual things about this Chromebook, but at the end of the day, there are others that could technically meet these same criteria. There’s one final step that has to take place, and that is the part of the experience we can’t put a technical measurement on. It’s the part that brings all the good stuff together and builds an experience, and the ASUS Chromebook Flip CX5400 gets that more right than most. Specs are needed for great Chromebooks, there’s no doubting that: but getting all that good stuff to come together to make a great experience takes something else – that immeasurable thing – that undefined quality that just makes you truly enjoy using something. The Flip CX5400 has that thing, and pairing it up to all the superlatives on offer in this Chromebook I have no issue in saying it is my go-to, favorite device in the office right now.

Review – ASUS Chromebook Flip CX5400: Should this be for you?

This is a bit dangerous, though. There is no information available regarding the pricing of this laptop and I was told that “it starts from RM4,199”. The price is obviously high for its specs because we can get other Windows laptops at a much lower price than this – but the operating system is where the magic lies. Depending on your work, a Chromebook might suit you more than a Windows PC. For me, I use laptops mostly for typing scripts, doing reviews like this one, or do content scheduling and filling in the description box of YouTube videos. Combined with the supremely long battery life that Chromebooks offer, I think Chromebooks suit me more.

Review – ASUS Chromebook Flip CX5400: Premium Chromebook

The price though, is something that I do not have. I can’t find anything – not even on the website. As far as I know, it “starts from RM4,199” and in my opinion, it’s a little steep, especially for a Chromebook. Yeah, this is considered a premium Chromebook but you can also get some other ASUS Vivobook laptops for about that price with similar specs but maybe not the same all-metal build quality too.

ASUS Chromebook CX5601 review: bigger isn’t always better

When a company makes a device that looks similar to an older one and simply increases the size a bit, you just expect the largeness to make room for better hardware. In this case, it just didn’t. I’d seriously doubt anyone would notice a performance bump over the more-attractive black and white CX5 and I know for certain that the keyboard, trackpad and speakers are all just as good in that model as well. In the end, this Chromebook just feels like a sidestep and in this price range – $649 MSRP – there are simply better devices out there to buy. Yeah, it gets updates until June of 2030, but that’s true of a bunch of Chromebooks out there. For this one, I’d tell you to skip it unless you are really into ASUS Chromebooks or really wanted the CX5 and can’t find one anywhere. Everyone else should probably keep looking.

Asus: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. is een grote Taiwanese fabrikant van computerhardware gevestigd in Taipei, opgericht in 1989. Onder de merknaam Asus produceert het bedrijf een breed scala aan producten, waaronder laptops, desktops, moederborden, grafische kaarten, monitoren, smartphones en netwerkapparatuur, complete systemen en pc-onderdelen voor eindgebruikers.
Onder de merknaam ROG (Republic of Gamers) produceert ASUS gaming laptops die bij gamers bekend staan om hun krachtige specificaties, speciale grafische kaarten, schermen met hoge verversingssnelheid en geavanceerde koelsystemen.
Naast gaming wordt een breed scala aan notebooks aangeboden voor verschillende behoeften en budgetten, van ultraslanke en lichtgewicht ultrabooks tot veelzijdige 2-in-1 convertibles en budgetvriendelijke opties. In 2023 had Asus wereldwijd een marktaandeel van 7% op de pc-markt.
De klanttevredenheid over ASUS-notebooks heeft betrekking op de prestaties, de functies en de goede prijs-prestatieverhouding van ASUS-notebooks. Zoals bij elk merk zijn er echter af en toe meldingen van problemen zoals oververhitting, drivercompatibiliteit of problemen met de bouwkwaliteit.
Deze grafische kaarten zouden alle huidige spellen moeten kunnen draaien, maar de meeste spellen zullen alleen met gemiddelde of lage detail instellingen en lage resoluties goed werken. Oudere of minder veeleisende spellen kunnen nog wel met goede grafische instellingen gespeeld worden.

i5-1130G7:
Tiger Lake gebaseerde quad-core processor met laag energieverbruik voor dunne en lichte laptops. De vier kernen klokken rond 1,1 - 4 GHz. Geproduceerd in 10nm+ bij Intel.
i3-1110G4:

Intel Alder Lake-M:

Een op Alder-Lake gebaseerde mobiele processor met 2 prestatiekernen en 8 efficiënte kernen. De prestatiekernen bieden hyper-threading, waardoor 12 threads kunnen worden verwerkt. De CPU draait op frequenties van 0,9 tot 4,4 GHz. De TDP is gespecificeerd op 15 Watt.

Dit gewicht is typisch voor erg grote tablets, subnotebooks, ultrabooks en convertibles met een 11-13 inch schermdiagonaal.
2.16 kg:
Gewoonlijk hebben subnotebooks, ultrabooks en redelijk lichte laptops met een 12-16 inch schermdiagonaal dit gewicht.
