The Alienware X series of gaming laptops are a new design for 2021 with 4-fan cooling and silicone gallium thermal paste. Available in 15” and 17” sizes as the Alienware x15 and x17, we review both. These slim gaming laptops have Intel 11th gen H series CPUs and NVIDIA RTX 3060/3070/3080 dedicated graphics. Display options range from high refresh full HD to QHD 240Hz (x15) and 4K 120Hz (x17). The Alienware x15 and x17 have a healthy selection of ports including Thunderbolt 4, Wi-Fi 6E, per key RGB lighting with Tron lights and an optional Cherry MX keyboard on the x17.

EN→NLThe Alienware x17 is a sharper-looking version of the former flagship m17, but we're not sold on the redesign. While larger laptops often pack more power, it performs no better than premium 15-inch gaming rigs, so you're really just choosing on screen size and getting a heavier machine. Compared to the m17, the new notebook adds neither power nor portability. What we do like is the look, the mechanical keyboard (though it isn't new with this model), and the premium extras you'd expect at this price point. The x17 does everything well, but will cost you a pretty penny, and its less expensive base model is severely lacking in storage. If money is no object and you love the look, the x17 will serve you well and even start some conversations given its head-turning design. Otherwise, it's hard to recommend over the Alienware m17 R4 or Razer Blade 15.

EN→NLEvery time I think that Alienware has finally hit the wall on its stunning gaming laptops, I’m happily proven wrong. The Alienware X17 is the pinnacle of what a desktop replacement can be. Thanks to its Core i7 processor, Nvidia RTX 3080 GPU and dual SSDs, the latest addition to the Alienware family is a serious force to be reckoned with – and I haven’t even mentioned the head-turning 4K panel, Cherry MX keyboard and powerful sound. The company managed to squeeze all of that ridiculous awesome into a chassis that’s only 0.8-inches thick. Still, if you’re looking for something even more powerful, the Origin Eon17-X is the way to go. But all that power doesn’t come cheap at $4,215, especially when we’re talking about desktop processors. Plus, you’re losing out on battery life. Overall, if you want power, endurance and aesthetics, the Alienware is the obvious choice.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Laptop GPU:
Deze grafische kaarten zouden de meeste moderne spellen op een hoge resolutie en hoge details moeten kunnen draaien (enkele uitzonderingen zijn mogelijk).

Tiger Lake (H45-serie) gebaseerde high-end octa-core SoC voor gaming laptops en werkstations. De acht CPU-kernen draaien op 2,3 GHz tot 4,6 GHz. De geïntegreerde UHD Graphics GPU biedt 32 EU's op maximaal 1,45 GHz. De chip is vervaardigd op het tweede generatie 10 nm Intel SuperFin-proces.

Grote schermformaten laten hogere resoluties toe. Details zoals letters zijn groter. Anderzijds is het energieverbruik lager bij kleine schermdiagonalen en de toestellen zijn kleiner, lichter en goedkoper.

Alienware: Alienware werd in 1996 opgericht in de VS. Het Europese hoofdkantoor is gevestigd in Ierland. Alienware maakt sinds 2006 deel uit van de Dell Group. Het productassortiment richt zich voornamelijk op gaming laptops en desktops, die ontwikkeld en geproduceerd worden door Dell. Het handelsmerk is een licht futuristisch ontwerp met een Alien als logo. Daarnaast worden er werkstations voor particulieren en bedrijven verkocht.
Zoals bij elk merk zijn er ook bij Alienware enkele punten van kritiek. Sommige klanten hebben geklaagd over de hoge prijzen van de producten, terwijl anderen kritiek hadden op de kwaliteit van de klantenservice. Er zijn ook enkele meldingen geweest van problemen met de betrouwbaarheid en duurzaamheid van sommige Alienware-producten. Veel klanten hebben echter ook positieve ervaringen met het merk en waarderen de krachtige spelcomputers.
