How future-ready do you really need to be? Frankly, if you are someone who updates phones every two years, a 5G device doesn’t make sense today given the networks won’t be in place so soon. The 4G variant, which starts at Rs 36,990, I feel is better value-for-money since it comes with the same specifications.

It’ll likely be several years before we see 5G in India, and by that time, you’ll have moved on to a newer phone. And that 12 GB RAM? You really don’t need that either. If you are going for this phone, get the 4G, 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage variant that retails at Rs 39,990.

A bump-up in memory to 8GB/265GB will set you back INR39,990 ($555/€512) and the top-tier iQOO 3 5G, with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, retails for INR44,990 ($625/€575). In China, the iQOO 3 is only available with 5G across all of the memory tiers and with slightly different price points (but in the same ballpark).

Qualcomm Adreno 650:
Grafische chip voor smartphones en tablets geïntegreerd in de Qualcomm Snapdragon 865-SoC. Qualcomm claimt dat de chip 25% sneller is dan de Adreno 640 in de Snapdragon 855-SoC en over 50% meer compute-units (ALU's) beschikt. Voor Android zou het een van de snelste grafische kaarten moeten zijn in 2020.
Deze grafische kaarten zouden alle huidige spellen moeten kunnen draaien, maar de meeste spellen zullen alleen met gemiddelde of lage detail instellingen en lage resoluties goed werken. Oudere of minder veeleisende spellen kunnen nog wel met goede grafische instellingen gespeeld worden.

SD 865:
High-end SoC voor smartphones die gelanceerd werd op het einde van 2019 en gefabriceerd in 7nm bij TSMC (verbeterd N7P). Integreert een Prime Core gebaseerd op een ARM Cortex-A77-architectuur geklokt aan max. 2.84 GHz. Drie andere performante cores zijn eveneens gebaseerd op de A77, maar klokken slechts tot 2.42 GHz. Daarnaast zijn er nog vier energiezuinige cores geïntegreerd die gebaseerd zijn op de ARM Cortex-A55-architectuur en die klokken tot 1.8 GHz. Naast de processor-cores integreert de SoC een WiFi 6-modem (inclusief ondersteuning voor 60 GHz mmWave), een Hexagon 698 DSP (max. 15 TOPS) en een Spectra 480 ISP. De geïntegreerde geheugencontroller biedt nu ondersteuning voor sneller LPDDR5-geheugen tot 2750 MHz. LTE is niet meer inbegrepen in de SoC, maar de externe Snapdragon X55 5G-modem moet hiervoor gebruikt worden.
