The little Toshiba has the best build and weighs less than half the 2 kg+ of most budget laptops. It may not measure well in benchmarks but the flash drive means the machine feels more responsive in normal use. Add your own SD card and the CL10 becomes viable.

The Toshiba Satellite CL10-B is a decent attempt at a Chromebook-rivalling Windows laptop, with reasonable performance and acceptable build quality. The two years of 100GB OneDrive storage is a big bonus, but it's not quite enough for Toshiba's device to outscore the Asus EeeBook X205TA. Asus' machine is better built, cheaper, lighter and has better battery life, which are all the hallmarks of a better laptop, and this is before you even consider the one year of 1TB cloud storage and personal Microsoft Office365 licence. You won't be disappointed with the CL10-B, but we'd plump for the Asus every time.

Ultimately, the Toshiba Satellite CL10-B finds itself going toe to toe with a talented team of Chromebooks, several of which offer better-quality screens or snazzier designs. Where the Toshiba trumps them all, though, is versatility. As Windows 8 removes the need to rely on web apps and a decent Wi-Fi connection, the Satellite CL10-B will be a more appealing buy than a Chromebook for many people. For only £200, this little ultraportable is well worth considering.

Intel HD Graphics (Bay Trail): Geïntegreerde GPU voor tablet en notebook Bay Trail SoC's. Gebaseerd op de Ivy Bridge GPU met vier Execution Units en ondersteuning voor DirectX 11.

Alleen oudere games kunnen vloeiend draaien met deze grafische chips (als ze niet veeleisend zijn). Gedeeld geheugen grafische cores in deze categorie hebben het voordeel van minder warmte-ontwikkeling en langere batterijlooptijd. Voor kantoor, internet, beeldcorrectie- en videomonteringswerk zijn deze grafische chips nog steeds bruikbaar zonder enige beperkingen.
