This high-end 13-inch Sony VAIO Z Series ultrathin laptop has a tough sell simply because of its price, but it does have a very lightweight design, good graphics performance and extra long battery life. Performance is very good and the included docking station provides you with an optical drive and discrete AMD graphics capabilities.

Still the highest-end of Sony's Vaio laptops (after all, nothing comes after Z in the alphabet), the Z-series is a rare animal these days. It's a PC that starts close to $2,000 and goes up from there. With slim 13-inch SSD laptops now well under $1,000, Sony's expensive, high-end Z series laptop is a tough sell, although the long-life slice battery and unique GPU/optical dock help make its case.

Commentaar

Intel HD Graphics 3000: Aankomende (1ste kwartaal 2011) geïntegreerde grafische kaart van de Intel Sandy Bridge processoren (Core ix-2xxx). De 3000 / 200 is de snellere, intern GT2 genaamde, versie met 12 Execution Units (EU's).

Alleen oudere games kunnen vloeiend draaien met deze grafische chips (als ze niet veeleisend zijn). Gedeeld geheugen grafische cores in deze categorie hebben het voordeel van minder warmte-ontwikkeling en langere batterijlooptijd. Voor kantoor, internet, beeldcorrectie- en videomonteringswerk zijn deze grafische chips nog steeds bruikbaar zonder enige beperkingen.

2450M: Dual-core processor gebaseerd op de Sandy Bridge architectuur met een geïntegreerde grafische chip en dual-channel DDR3 geheugencontroller. De CPU is geklokt op 2.5 GHz (Turbo Boost 2.8-3.1 GHz) en de GPU op 650 MHz (1300 MHz Turbo Boost).
