Gemengde gevoelens. Lenovo's nieuwkomer wil met zijn middenklasse grafische kaart de multimedia markt betreden, maar begaat grote blunders op het gebied van beeldscherm en geluid. Het toetsenbord stelt gebruikers die goede kantoorkwaliteiten waarderen misschien teleur. De meeste andere eigenschappen, met name de systeemprestaties, zijn juist weer top.

We are impressed by the build quality and sturdiness of the machine and the input devices are also considerably a big advantage of the device. Designers from Lenovo were also able to keep the weight and height low, which is rather impressive given the price point – 2.3 kg and 24.6 mm thick profile.

Unfortunately the machine’s multimedia identity is also somewhat marred by the lackluster display. Add to that problem the machine’s poor battery life, which will often leave you tethered to an outlet. Still the Z51 is an enticing package considering everything it offers for the less than $700 price point.

However, the limited colors offered by the 15-inch display undermine its multimedia mission. I also wish you could use this system unplugged for longer. If you're on a tighter budget, the Core i3-powered Dell Inspiron 15 5000 ($449) offers solid performance and longer battery life.

Lenovo: Lenovo ("Le" uit de Engelse legende, novo (Latijn voor nieuw) werd in 1984 opgericht als Chinees handelsbedrijf in computers. In 2004 was het bedrijf de grootste laptopfabrikant in China en, na de overname van IBM's pc-divisie in 2005, de op drie na grootste ter wereld. Naast desktops en notebooks produceert het bedrijf monitoren, projectors, servers, enz. en is het gespecialiseerd in de ontwikkeling, productie en marketing van consumentenelektronica, pc's, software, bedrijfsoplossingen en aanverwante diensten.
In 2016 stond het bedrijf op de eerste plaats in de wereld wat betreft computerverkopen. Dit was in 2023 nog steeds het geval, met een wereldwijd marktaandeel van ongeveer 23%. Belangrijke productlijnen zijn Thinkpad, Legion en Ideapad.
In 2011 verwierf het een meerderheidsbelang in Medion AG, een Europese fabrikant van computerhardware. In 2014 werd Motorola Mobility gekocht, wat Lenovo een boost gaf op de smartphonemarkt.
Deze grafische kaarten zouden alle huidige spellen moeten kunnen draaien, maar de meeste spellen zullen alleen met gemiddelde of lage detail instellingen en lage resoluties goed werken. Oudere of minder veeleisende spellen kunnen nog wel met goede grafische instellingen gespeeld worden.
