EN→NLIf Santa Claus provided us a choice of the ThinkPad X9 or ThinkPad X1 Carbon, we'd pick the latter, but if we were spending our own money we'd be tempted to save hundreds. We can find no fault with Lenovo's new small-business model except for a less-than-ideal keyboard and a missing USB Type-A port. This ThinkPad's screen quality, audio fidelity, and other user conveniences earn it our Editors' Choice award. Lenovo has found and filled a nifty niche with this laptop.

EN→NLThe Lenovo ThinkPad X9 14 Aura Edition makes for a solid Windows ultrabook with decent power, a sublime OLED display and solid battery life. It also looks sleek and is remarkably portable. Just watch out for the meagre port selection against key rivals. With this in mind, the likes of the Asus Zenbook S 16 (2024) and MSI Prestige A16 AI+, as well as even the ThinkPad T14s Gen 6 provide much stronger inputs, with full-size USB-As, SD readers and just more ports generally. The Asus and MSI choices also provide stronger multi-core performance, which will be handy if you’re likely to engage in intensive workloads a lot. EN→NLThe ThinkPad X9 14 provides a great keyboard and touchpad alongside a premium look and feel that’s more like Lenovo’s excellent Yoga Pro laptops. While the changes won’t tempt long-time ThinkPad fans, they make the laptop more competitive with prosumer laptops, which often deliver better design than laptops focused on productivity and business. Where the ThinkPad X9 14 lags, however, is bang-for-the-buck. Though it’s as attractive as prosumer peers, you’ll still find that your money doesn’t go as far when buying a ThinkPad as it would if you purchased a prosumer laptop.

While it might seem sacrilegious to ditch the carbon fiber frames and Trackpoint nubs found in classic ThinkPads, at CES 2025 Lenovo’s new ThinkPad X9 line is here to prove that there’s still plenty of room in the family for fresh designs. Lenovo may not admit it outright, but the goal with these new models is to entice younger buyers who might not have a ton of nostalgia for the company’s 30-year-old laptop line.

Intel Arc 140V: Een behoorlijk snelle geïntegreerde grafische adapter die naar verluidt bepaalde Intel Lunar Lake processors gebruiken. De 140V heeft 8 kernen met Xe²-architectuur die draaien op maximaal 2.050 MHz en 8 ray tracing-eenheden; hij is geschikt voor DirectX 12 Ultimate en ondersteunt ook alle moderne videocodecs. Als recente uitgelekte benchmarkscores een indicatie zijn, zullen de gamingprestaties iets beter zijn dan die van de GeForce MX570.
Deze middenklasse grafische kaarten kunnen alle huidige spellen vloeiend spelen. Veeleisende spellen kunnen alleen met gemiddelde detail instellingen gespeeld worden.

Core Ultra 7 258V: Een processor uit de Lunar Lake familie voor het hogere middensegment. Dit is een SoC voor gebruik in slankere laptops en tablets met 4 nieuwe E-cores en 4 nieuwe P-cores op maximaal 4,8 GHz, samen met de veelbelovende nieuwe Arc 140V iGPU en 32 GB on-package LPDDR5x-8533 RAM. Een nieuwe 47 TOPS neurale engine, TB 4 en PCIe 5 SSD ondersteuning zijn ook inbegrepen.

14.00": Dit schermformaat wordt vooral gebruikt voor subnotebooks, ultrabooks en convertibles. Voor alle drie types is dit formaat redelijk groot. De grootste verscheidenheid aan subnotebooks wordt vertegenwoordigd in deze klasse.
Grote schermformaten laten hogere resoluties toe. Details zoals letters zijn groter. Anderzijds is het energieverbruik lager bij kleine schermdiagonalen en de toestellen zijn kleiner, lichter en goedkoper.

1.21 kg: Dit gewicht is typisch voor grote tablets, kleine subnotebooks, ultrabooks en convertibles met een 10-11 inch schermdiagonaal.
Lenovo: Lenovo ("Le" uit de Engelse legende, novo (Latijn voor nieuw) werd in 1984 opgericht als Chinees handelsbedrijf in computers. In 2004 was het bedrijf de grootste laptopfabrikant in China en, na de overname van IBM's pc-divisie in 2005, de op drie na grootste ter wereld. Naast desktops en notebooks produceert het bedrijf monitoren, projectors, servers, enz. en is het gespecialiseerd in de ontwikkeling, productie en marketing van consumentenelektronica, pc's, software, bedrijfsoplossingen en aanverwante diensten.
In 2016 stond het bedrijf op de eerste plaats in de wereld wat betreft computerverkopen. Dit was in 2023 nog steeds het geval, met een wereldwijd marktaandeel van ongeveer 23%. Belangrijke productlijnen zijn Thinkpad, Legion en Ideapad.
In 2011 verwierf het een meerderheidsbelang in Medion AG, een Europese fabrikant van computerhardware. In 2014 werd Motorola Mobility gekocht, wat Lenovo een boost gaf op de smartphonemarkt.
