We reviewed the ThinkPad L480 (87%) about a year ago, and we actually only criticized the dim display. Lenovo has now changed the display with the successor and also updated the processor. Nonetheless, "new" does not always mean "better", as our current review for the L490 shows.

As we mentioned at the start of this review, the ThinkPad L490 is all about security and durability. While it’s designed is outdated and looks kind of clunky when placed against a modern 14-inch laptop, we have to note that the plastics used for the build of this machine is very thick. What is weird about it, is that it throttles without any logic. Instead of boosting the fan, it turns it off and relies on mostly passive cooling.

Intel UHD Graphics 620:
Geïntegreerde GPU (GT2, 24 EU's) die je terugvindt in sommige CPU-modellen van de Kaby Lake-refresh (15-Watt ULV-serie). Technisch identiek aan de vorige Kaby Lake-GPU genaamd HD Graphics 620.
Deze grafische kaarten zouden alle huidige spellen moeten kunnen draaien, maar de meeste spellen zullen alleen met gemiddelde of lage detail instellingen en lage resoluties goed werken. Oudere of minder veeleisende spellen kunnen nog wel met goede grafische instellingen gespeeld worden.
