There are a ton of reasons why you’ll love the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i. Within that premium, durable chassis, you’ve got a gorgeous display, great ergonomics, and a ton of power. That’s not to say it’s perfect: the webcam is still not that great, it gets hot under the collar real fast, and the steeper asking price when compared to other RTX 4070 systems will put some people off. But at its core, you’re getting a great gaming laptop, paired with a fantastic all-round performer.

Costs can quickly spiral out of control when shopping for a gaming laptop that offers the latest technology from Intel and Nvidia. The Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 8 delivers the goods while staying on budget. It provides excellent value by pairing a powerful Core i9-13900HX CPU with not RTX 4080 or RTX 4090 graphics, but the more cost-effective RTX 4070 GPU. And its roomy, 16-inch 16:10 display is bright, sharp, and fast enough to extend the laptop’s value even further. For a midrange gaming laptop, the rather staid design is sufficient. We’d expect a more interesting and rigid enclosure for a higher-end gaming laptop, which is why we wouldn’t recommend scaling up in the Legion Pro 7i Gen 8 line and choosing one of the pricier models with an RTX 4080 or RTX 4090 GPU. As configured, this machine is an excellent example of a mainstream gaming laptop that delivers for the price.

The 2023 Lenovo Legion Pro 7i sports a mild redesign, an Intel Core i9-13900HX CPU and NVIDIA RTX 4070/4080/4090 high watt GPUs. Trend Micro's Premium Security Suite offers complete device and identity protection for up to 10 devices. As ever, the Legion is a popular gaming laptop thanks to good build quality, sane pricing and strong performance. The 16” QHD+ display is back with a 240Hz refresh rate, and the laptop has per key RGB lighting and a front light bar. Lenovo cut a few corners this year to keep the price down, watch to see if those tradeoffs are worth the cost savings.

NVIDIA NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU:

High-end grafische kaart voor laptops gebaseerd op de Ada Lovelace-architectuur. Biedt 8 GB GDDR6 (128 bit) en is configureerbaar met een TGP van 35 - 115 W (+ Dynamic Boost).

Deze grafische kaarten zouden de meeste moderne spellen op een hoge resolutie en hoge details moeten kunnen draaien (enkele uitzonderingen zijn mogelijk).

i9-13900HX: Mobiele CPU gebaseerd op de Raptor Lake serie die 24 cores biedt (8 prestatie-, 16 efficiëntiekernen) met een Boost core tot 5,8 GHz voor de P-cores. Vergelijkbaar met de Desktop i9-13900K, maar met lagere kloksnelheden en TDP.

Lenovo: Lenovo ("Le" uit de Engelse legende, novo (Latijn voor nieuw) werd in 1984 opgericht als Chinees handelsbedrijf in computers. In 2004 was het bedrijf de grootste laptopfabrikant in China en, na de overname van IBM's pc-divisie in 2005, de op drie na grootste ter wereld. Naast desktops en notebooks produceert het bedrijf monitoren, projectors, servers, enz. en is het gespecialiseerd in de ontwikkeling, productie en marketing van consumentenelektronica, pc's, software, bedrijfsoplossingen en aanverwante diensten.

In 2016 stond het bedrijf op de eerste plaats in de wereld wat betreft computerverkopen. Dit was in 2023 nog steeds het geval, met een wereldwijd marktaandeel van ongeveer 23%. Belangrijke productlijnen zijn Thinkpad, Legion en Ideapad.

In 2011 verwierf het een meerderheidsbelang in Medion AG, een Europese fabrikant van computerhardware. In 2014 werd Motorola Mobility gekocht, wat Lenovo een boost gaf op de smartphonemarkt.
