Extreem betaalbaar. Honor belooft met zijn 7A een betaalbare smartphone met een groot scherm. Daarnaast biedt de smartphone een aantal specifieke features zoals dual-SIM met een aparte microSD-kaartlezer en een surround-modus. Zijn dit gewoon gimmicks of weet de Honor 7A echt te overtuigen?

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

Om de schermhelderheid te verlagen schakelen sommige laptops het backlight erg snel aan en uit. Dit gebeurt aan een dergelijk hoge frequentie dat het niet zichtbaar is voor het menselijk oog. Als de frequentie te laag is kunnen personen met gevoelige ogen geïrriteerd geraken, hoofdpijn krijgen en zelfs flickering waarnemen.
Screen flickering / PWM niet waargenomen ≤ 25 % helderheid instelling

Ter vergelijking: 54 % van alle geteste toestellen maakten geen gebruik van PWM om de schermhelderheid te verlagen. Als het wel werd gebruikt, werd een gemiddelde van 8895 (minimum: 43 - maximum: 142900) Hz waargenomen.

Responstijd Scherm

De responstijden van het scherm tonen hoe snel het scherm in staat is om van één kleur naar de andere te veranderen. Trage responstijden kunnen aanleiding geven tot 'nabeelden' rond bewegende objecten of het scherm wazig maken (blur). Vooral spelers van snelle 3D-games hebben baat bij een scherm met snelle responstijden.

Het scherm vertoonde prima responstijden in onze tests maar is misschien wat te traag voor competitieve games.
Ter vergelijking: alle testtoestellen variëren van 0.8 (minimum) tot 240 (maximum) ms. » 31 % van alle toestellen zijn beter.
Dit betekent dat de gemeten responstijd vergelijkbaar is met het gemiddelde (25.9 ms) van alle geteste toestellen.

De Honor 7A onderscheidt zich niet door zijn bijzondere features (heeft er echt iemand 7 vrienden die allemaal in het bezit zijn van een Honor 7 om samen een geluidssysteem van smartphones te creëren?), maar vooral door zijn smalle schermranden, hoge prestaties, goede batterijduur en nauwkeurige GPS. De camera schiet ook degelijke beelden, zelfs bij weinig licht. De Honor 7A scoort dus meer op basis van essentiële kwaliteiten die elke dag van pas komen, dan features die vooral goed zijn voor de reclame, maar zelden gebruikt worden.

Het feit dat de Honor 7A niet al te duur is, maakt de goede prestaties des te opmerkelijker. Natuurlijk zijn er ook een aantal minpunten, zoals het scherm dat niet erg helder is - en te lijden heeft onder een blauwe tint - en de plastic behuizing die wel oké is, maar zeker geen prijzen zal winnen. Dit zijn echter kleine details in vergelijking met de mooie prestaties in de disciplines die er echt toe doen.

De Honor 7A weet op veel vlakken te overtuigen: het toestel biedt goede prestaties en batterijduur voor een betaalbare prijs.

Al bij al is de Honor 7A een smartphone met een eerlijke prijs en uitstekende prijs/prestaties-verhouding.
