The Crosscall Action-X5’s IPS display performed best in indoor conditions, with acceptable readability and color reproduction, that was well suited for basic functions like web browsing (even though scrolling was not very smooth) and watching SDR videos, where the brightness was correct and details were well-rendered. The device was not well-suited for more demanding uses such as watching HDR10 and ultra HD videos, or gaming because of a lack of smoothness and visible aliasing. However, the device showed no flicker. For a device that was designed to be used outdoors, the Crosscall Action-X5 display was not well suited for outdoor conditions. Reading the screen outdoors was very difficult when the device was held at an angle. Also, users wearing polarized sunglasses will find that they have to hold the phone in a landscape position to read anything on the screen because the display turns black in portrait position.

The French manufacturer Crosscall is known for smartphones that are designed for rough conditions, offering waterproof bodies, shock resistance and long battery life. The latest model, the Action-X5, is no exception and is targeted at outdoor lovers and athletes. Inside the rugged housing, the Android OS is powered by a Snapdragon 662 chipset and the 5.45-inch display offers an HD+ resolution. With an 48MP primary camera and a 13MP ultra-wide — no tele lens or bokeh mode — things look pretty simple in the camera department compared to some other devices in Crosscall’s price range. Let’s see how this rugged phone stacks up against more conventional competitors in the DXOMARK Camera test.

Qualcomm Adreno 610:

Alleen oudere games kunnen vloeiend draaien met deze grafische chips (als ze niet veeleisend zijn). Gedeeld geheugen grafische cores in deze categorie hebben het voordeel van minder warmte-ontwikkeling en langere batterijlooptijd. Voor kantoor, internet, beeldcorrectie- en videomonteringswerk zijn deze grafische chips nog steeds bruikbaar zonder enige beperkingen.

5.45": Dit scherm is al redelijk groot voor een smartphone, maar wordt veelvuldig toegepast.

Grote schermformaten laten hogere resoluties toe. Details zoals letters zijn groter. Anderzijds is het energieverbruik lager bij kleine schermdiagonalen en de toestellen zijn kleiner, lichter en goedkoper.
