An affordable widescreen media centre, but performance fails to impress. Finally, storage matches the more expensive laptops around. The 250GB hard drive provides ample space for large collections of files, while the DVD rewriter and 3-in-1 media card reader let you save and share files, using both optical discs and flash memory storage cards. While the limited mobility and performance of the Packard Bell is disappointing, its low price and stunning screen make it great for basic home entertainment. As long as the slightly awkward usability doesn't put you off, the TN65 is worth a look.

Packard Bell is not afraid to step out from the crowd in the design and styling of its laptop range - and the widescreen TN65-T-440 notebook is no exception. From the outside with the lid closed, the top takes a smart but industrial tablet-embossed pattern, with sturdy-looking metal hinges to support the widescreen 15.5in display. There's a definite air of masculine tech about the Packard Bell EasyNote TN65. Like the Packard Bell EasyNote RS65 we tested last month, the Packard Bell EasyNote TN65-T-440 is a stylish and well designed laptop – excepting the badly executed buttons that will make relaxed operation tricky for some users. But it’s cool and quiet, weighs less than 2.8kg and has a true 16:9 display that will make video look great. And at under £450, it’s competitively priced too.

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3430: De ATI Moblity Radeon HD 3430 is een dedicated instap videokaart voor laptops. Volgens AMD is de HD 3430 vergelijkbaar met de 3450, maar ondersteund de 3450 ook GDDR3.
De prestaties van de HD3430 zouden vergelijkbaar zijn met de HD 3450 met GDDR2 en daardoor enkel voldoende voor oudere 3D Games zoals Half Life 2.
De 40 unified shaders van de HD 3430 zijn vergelijkbaar met 8 5-dimensionale shaders van nVidia. De kaart is vergelijkbaar met de 9200M GS met 8 unified shaders.

Alleen oudere games kunnen vloeiend draaien met deze grafische chips (als ze niet veeleisend zijn). Gedeeld geheugen grafische cores in deze categorie hebben het voordeel van minder warmte-ontwikkeling en langere batterijlooptijd. Voor kantoor, internet, beeldcorrectie- en videomonteringswerk zijn deze grafische chips nog steeds bruikbaar zonder enige beperkingen.

Intel Core 2 Duo: Dit is de Core Duo, de opvolger van de Core Solo met een langere pipeline en 5-20% meer snelheid zonder een hoger stroomverbruik. Als een aanvulling op het Core Duo ontwerp zit er een vierde decoder op, een versterkte SSE-unit en een extra reken-, logische unit (ALU).
De Core 2 Duo voor laptops is identiek aan de desktop Core 2 Duo processors maar de notebook-processors werken met een lagere spanning en een lagere Frontside bus klok. De prestatie van gelijk-geklokte notebooks is 20-25% lager dan Desktop PCs vanwege de lagere Frontside bus klok en de langzamere harde schijf.
