We hebben gemengde gevoelens over de Nokia 8 Sirocco. Qua specificaties is er niets om over te klagen. Hoewel de Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 het topmodel van vorig jaar is, werkt de chipset nog altijd snel en ontzettend effectief. Op marketingdoeleinden na is er verder ook geen reden om niet voor deze processor te kiezen, wanneer je aan punten denkt waarop je kunt besparen vanuit een smartphonefabrikant. De specs leveren fijne prestaties op, zeker in combinatie met Android One. Dit is een fantastische combinatie.

Nokia heeft dit toestel gemaakt om te kunnen laten zien dat het bedrijf ook hoogwaardige toestellen kan produceren in de top van de markt. Ik heb de Nokia 8 Sirocco twee weken continu met veel plezier gebruikt. Het schermformaat is ondanks de 16:9 heerlijk om mee te werken. De uitstraling van het toestel is goed met zijn afgeronde scherm. Kortom hij doet alles wat je van een dergelijk toestel verwacht. Toch zou het niet mijn dagelijks toestel worden omdat ik net niet uitkom met de accu. En dat nu eenmaal heel belangrijk voor mij, voor veel anderen zal het geen probleem zijn.

The Nokia 8 Sirocco improves upon the manufacturer’s smartphone camera hardware, packing in a dual camera with tele-lens for optical zoom shots and a good PDAF autofocus system. Overall image quality is a step up from the predecessor Nokia 8, offering slightly more consistent results for exposure and color. Its performance and image quality is competent, if not exceptional, with the best photos captured in bright light, producing images with good exposure, color, and texture. Results in lower light are acceptable, but it’s not an ideal low-light shooter, with losses of texture and color saturation evident, especially in very low light. Overall, for a mid-range device, the Nokia 8 Sirocco does an OK job with both photos and video, but devices with better results are available at this price point.

De meeste niet-veeleisende huidige games kunnen vloeiend draaien. Wees voorbereid op verminderde grafische weergave door lage detailinstellingen en lage resoluties. Toch verschaffen deze kaarten voldoende prestatie voor kantoor taken en video bekijken (niet voor HD videos).

5.50": Dit scherm is al redelijk groot voor een smartphone, maar wordt veelvuldig toegepast.

Grote schermformaten laten hogere resoluties toe. Details zoals letters zijn groter. Anderzijds is het energieverbruik lager bij kleine schermdiagonalen en de toestellen zijn kleiner, lichter en goedkoper.
