Discount-Gamer. A lot of performance for little dough. For 800 Euro there is the surprisingly strong ATI HD5730 (GDDR3), the i5-430M processor and an endless number of connections. Whether or not MSI improves on the much faulted quality of its case will be revealed in our review.

EN→NL Archive.org versionThe price/performance ratio on the GE600 is undeniable, and the whole system is very well balanced in terms of the components used, i.e. the processor, ram and graphics card which all work in perfect harmony. The standard HDD is good enough, but not great. I’m sure that a reasonably priced SSD will significantly improve performance, but then you’ll be losing out on a lot of storage. Eventually I’ll have to say that the MSI GE600 is a great bargain for what you’re getting out of it, just don’t play games on your lap!

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730:
De meeste niet-veeleisende huidige games kunnen vloeiend draaien. Wees voorbereid op verminderde grafische weergave door lage detailinstellingen en lage resoluties. Toch verschaffen deze kaarten voldoende prestatie voor kantoor taken en video bekijken (niet voor HD videos).

430M: De Core i5-430M is een middenklasse dual core CPU met een L2 cache van slechts 3MB (vergeleken met de i7-640M) en een kloksnelheid tussen 2,26 en 2,53 GHz (Turbo Mode). Verder heeft hij geen VT-D, trusted Execution of AES functionaliteiten. Dankzij Hyperthreading kan hij wel 4 threads gelijktijdig uitvoeren. Een geïntegreerde videokaart (Intel HD Graphics geklokt tussen 500-733MHz) en een DDR3 geheugen controller zitten bij in de processor verwerkt.
