De Core Ultra X7 vraagt slechts een fractie van de kracht van gaminglaptops met een GeForce RTX 3050 of RTX 4050 grafische processor, terwijl hij qua prestaties bij het spelen van bepaalde titels aardig in de buurt komt.

Intel heeft tijdens CES 2026 het doek van zijn aankomende generatie Panther Lake CPU's gehaald en de eerste officiële benchmarks beginnen nu online te verschijnen. Hoewel er niet verwacht wordt dat ze voor het tweede kwartaal van dit jaar in de winkelschappen zullen liggen, hadden wij de kans om wat te spelen met de Asus ExpertBook Ultra uitgerust met de Core Ultra X7 358H en ontdekten dat de geïntegreerde Arc B390 GPU sneller was dan verwacht, vooral gezien de schamele 60 tot 70 W voeding van de hele laptop.

Zoals blijkt uit de 3DMark benchmarks hieronder, presteert de ExpertBook Ultra beter dan laptops met de GeForce RTX 3050 zoals de MSI Thin GF63 12UC of HP Pavilion Plus 16. Het voordeel is zo groot dat de Asus zelfs op opvallende afstand van de RTX 4050 in veel gevallen, zoals gedetailleerd beschreven in onze recente analyses.

Natuurlijk vertalen synthetische benchmarks zich niet altijd perfect naar het spelen van echte games. In dit geval kan de ExpertBook Ultra nog steeds beter presteren dan laptops met de RTX 3050, zij het met kleinere marges. Oudere titels zoals GTA V of DOTA 2 Reborn kunnen zelfs sneller draaien op de oudere Nvidia GPU, maar de meeste nieuwere titels zoals Baldur's Gate 3 of Cyberpunk 2077 draaien beter op de Intel GPU voordat er AI-upscaling of framegeneratiefuncties worden toegepast.

Over AI-functies en framegeneratie gesproken, de ondersteuning voor XESS blijft achterlopen op die van Nvidia en zelfs AMD. Arc Raiders, bijvoorbeeld, ondersteunt momenteel alleen FG voor team groen en team rood, terwijl het inschakelen van XESS in Forza Horizon 5 in onze ervaring tot prestatieproblemen zou leiden.

In beide gevallen is het Asus-systeem aanzienlijk lichter en efficiënter dan een RTX 3050- of 4050-oplossing, vooral omdat er niet eens een speciale chip nodig is om het budgetalternatief van Nvidia te evenaren of te overtreffen.
