You’ll end up with a (slightly) less powerful CPU and GPU but it won’t make a vast difference to your gaming experience, especially if you’re a casual gamer. The same goes for the display quality.

Asus has given us two choices at very different price points, but there's a lot that the ROG Zephyrus G GA502DU has in common with the Zephyrus M GU502GU. Even the 120Hz screen is not a huge step down from 144Hz.

Overall, the Zephyrus G is, by far, my favorite Zephyrus to date. Aside from its lightweight and slim form factor, it also delivers above-average gaming performance with a 120Hz refresh rate, which is suitable for First-Person Shooter games. Not only that, it has an impressive battery life for a gaming laptop. My only beef here is that there are times that it glitches out like when the screen completely turns all black for a moment then goes back to normal. I also would’ve preferred an SD card slot and RGB backlit-keyboard which should complete my whole gaming experience.

Overall, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G GA502 has both exceeded and fallen short of my expectations. The main area of contention for me is that dull-looking display, and it may be hard to look past that if you are used to a vibrant monitor. Its other issues are more minor, however, and there is no denying the laptop offers a good level of 1080p gaming performance in a sleek and portable chassis. The excellent battery life also makes this a very realistic option if you want something to use at work or university.
