One is that WiFi connectivity is intermittent—there’s a workaround that involves disabling Bluetooth support, but while I can live with that it’s not ideal for many people. Pricing is a second concern, and even at the now-reduced pricing I still feel the UX51VZ is priced a couple hundred dollars too high for most.

Asus have provided a measly 12-month guarantee free of charge; a warranty upgrade is recommended on a near-$2000 notebook – you should be able to get one at the store. Otherwise the Zenbook UX51VZ is an eminently capable machine.

But few though the cons may be, they could be reason enough to justify passing this system up. The machine verges on cost-prohibitive, especially considering the battery life isn't great and there's no touchscreen for interacting with Windows 8.

NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M: Mid-range GPU en het snelste GeForce GT model uit de 600M serie.
Deze grafische kaarten zouden alle huidige spellen moeten kunnen draaien, maar de meeste spellen zullen alleen met gemiddelde of lage detail instellingen en lage resoluties goed werken. Oudere of minder veeleisende spellen kunnen nog wel met goede grafische instellingen gespeeld worden.

3612QM: Een Ivy Bridge quad-core processor geklokt op 2.1 GHz met Turbo Boost ondersteuning tot 3.1 GHz. Heeft een geïntegreerde HD Graphics 4000 GPU die draait op 650-1100 MHz op een dual channel DDR3 memory controller. De specialiteit van de Core i7-3612QM is zijn lage TDP van 35 Watt vergeleken met de 45 Watt van de andere Ivy Bridge quad-core CPU's (zoals de 3610QM).
