Gaming met beperkingen. Asus' slogan voor de nieuwe 15-inch ROG-laptop is "Gaming Without Limits", wat helaas niet het geval is omwille van de GeForce GTX 950M. Als de beperkte prestaties geen probleem vormen krijg je een evenwichtige multimedia-laptop met een SSD, uitstekende invoerapparatuur en een overtuigend scherm voor 1200 euro (~$1354), maar helaas niet zonder gebreken.

Still, it's mighty expensive at £1199.99, the plastic chassis doesn't scream quality to us and the abysmal battery life will keep you tethered to a wall. It’s a hard sell as there are cheaper, much more powerful portable options out there.

EN→NL Archive.org versionAs expected, buying the more expensive notebook here, the Lenovo Y50, will bring you better performance and overall user experience due to the excellent build quality, design and superb sound. On the contrary, the GL552 excels in other important areas like screen quality and cooling system which is a big deal to consider when you add up the price tag. But keep in mind that the screen quality comes at a price as our tests indicate the presence of PWM (screen flickering) across all brightness levels except 100%. The same applies for the Lenovo Y50, but the frequency of the emitted light there is 21.6 kHz and can be considered way less harmful to your eyes.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M:
Mid-range grafische kaart van de GeForce GTX 900M-serie, gebaseerd op de Maxwell-architectuur.
Deze grafische kaarten zouden alle huidige spellen moeten kunnen draaien, maar de meeste spellen zullen alleen met gemiddelde of lage detail instellingen en lage resoluties goed werken. Oudere of minder veeleisende spellen kunnen nog wel met goede grafische instellingen gespeeld worden.

4720HQ:
Haswell-gebaseerde quad-core processor geklokt aan 2.6 GHz met ondersteuning voor Turbo Boost tot en met 3.6 GHz. Beschikt over een geïntegreerde HD Graphics 4600 GPU en een dual-channel DDR3-geheugencontroller.
De Intel Core i7-4720HQ is een high-end quad-core processor voor laptops. De CPU is gebaseerd op de Haswell-architectuur en gefabriceerd in 22nm. Dankzij Hyperthreading kunnen de vier cores tot en met acht threads in parallel aan, wat leidt tot een efficiënter gebruik van de CPU. Elke core biedt een basiskloksnelheid van 2.6 GHz maar kan dynamisch overklokt worden met Turbo Boost tot en met 3.4 GHz (voor 4 actieve cores), 3.5 GHz (voor 2 actieve cores) en 3.6 GHz (voor 1 actieve core). In vergelijking met de vorige i7-4710HQ, is de i7-4720HQ precies 100 MHz hoger geklokt.
