De Asus ExpertBook B3 Detachable is een kleine 2-in-1 laptop met een koppelbaar toetsenbord. Voorzien van de energie-efficiënte Qualcomm Snapdragon 7c Gen 2, is het apparaat ontworpen om studenten met gemak te laten werken en leren. Hoewel het inderdaad goed genoeg kan zijn voor de beoogde markt, heeft het apparaat nog steeds veel beperkingen.

The marketing makes it seem like it’s for frontline workers or the education market, but I’d feel bad handing this off to an employee and even worse for the kids stuck with this in a computer lab. It’s also available on Best Buy for anyone to purchase, which I’d advise against unless it’s deeply discounted. Even without thinking of competing options, there’s not a great case for its $600 price. Even with stellar battery life, included accessories, and a nice screen, the Asus B3 reminds us that Windows on a Snapdragon chip can still have a lot of drawbacks, especially in a cheaper configuration like this. Sure, the overall experience has improved a lot on the high-end with the Surface Pro 9 and ThinkPad X13s Gen 1, but for now you may want to steer clear of these low-end Snapdragon Windows PCs.

EN→NLAnd I’m not blaming Intel or ASUS for this disappointment. It’s because Microsoft did not improve Windows on ARM architecture. It’s been more than a year since I last reviewed a laptop with a Snapdragon chip – and it was still running on Windows 10 at that time. Fast forward to today, and it’s still the same. By the way, the ASUS ExpertBok B3 Detachable in Malaysia is only available with this list of specs at the price of RM2,099.

Qualcomm Adreno 618:
Geïntegreerde (in de Snapdragon 730) grafische kaart gebaseerd op de Adreno 600-architectuur. Biedt ondersteuning voor Direct X11_1, Vulkan 1.0, OpenCL 2.0, OpenGL ES 3.2.
Alleen oudere games kunnen vloeiend draaien met deze grafische chips (als ze niet veeleisend zijn). Gedeeld geheugen grafische cores in deze categorie hebben het voordeel van minder warmte-ontwikkeling en langere batterijlooptijd. Voor kantoor, internet, beeldcorrectie- en videomonteringswerk zijn deze grafische chips nog steeds bruikbaar zonder enige beperkingen.

SD 7c Gen 2:
Op ARM gebaseerde SoC voor Windows-laptops die is vervaardigd in 8 nm. Integreert twee snelle Kryo 495 Gold-kernen (Cortex-A76 op maximaal 2,55 GHz) voor prestaties en 6x kleine Kryo 495 Silver-kernen (Cortex-A55) voor efficiëntie. Biedt verder een X15 LTE-modem, WiFi-5, Bluetooth 5.0 en een Hexagon 692 NPU.
