EN→NLThe ASUS BR1100F makes a particularly good case to fill that gap and then some. For S$699 at retail, it’s one ridiculously over-engineered notebook that seems robust enough to withstand abuses from cavalier schoolers and butter-fingered children. It can even transform into a tablet too, and together with the bundled stylus, allows it to function as a digital doodling board. That, the webcam, camera, and relatively decent power to run basic computing tasks and very light gaming also makes the BR1100F a very compelling choice that parents can introduce to their young children as their first notebook. Granted, there are notebooks with better specifications out there, and even notebooks that are priced lower, but the ASUS BR1100F is truly one of a kind.

EN→NLOverall, the ASUS BR1100FK perfectly fits with the intended audience of students and teachers, especially those on a budget at just RM1699 as it offers nearly every feature one could need including a built-in stylus, plenty of ports, a tough durable almost drop proof chassis, spillproof keyboard and more. In addition, there’s also the BR1100CK version with no touch screen for just RM1449 if you don’t need or want the stylus or tablet capabilities. However, adults who work in more challenging situations could also benefit from the BR1100FK as it’s basically like getting a military-grade drop proof laptop for the price of an entry-level device. Most tough laptops that could withstand such treatment were generally priced upwards of RM5K. Granted, the Intel Celeron processor and 4GB of RAM do make it unsuitable for demanding design and video work but it’s good enough for most everything else.

The netbook for the future now with amenities like USB-C with PD support, WiFi 6, garaged stylus, IPS touchscreen panel, and an M.2 expansion slot. All of those niceties make the BR1100F a vastly better version of its spiritual predecessor, setting the new benchmark for ultra-budget laptops geared towards students. People may not like the modest Celeron processor and tiny 64GB eMMC storage, but the latter is easily addressed and the former is justified by the fact that the BR1100F has a specific target market in mind.

EN→NLThe ASUS BR1100F is a feature-packed convertible that is ideal for young students up to Standard 6 and even a few years beyond that into secondary school; that’s up to Year 12 if you translate it to the US school system. For a reasonable price tag, you get a tough device running Windows 10 that can double as a tablet and a laptop while packing in a stylus and long battery life too. The limited performance means it’s useful up to a point but it’s more than enough for young students up to secondary school if you avoid heavier tasks like video editing and the like.

EN→NLHowever, the CPU for this particular variant is a little too weak, the speakers could use major improvements, there is no backlighting for the keyboard, random delays when using touchscreen with stylus, and the display is reflective with extremely thick bezels. Perhaps with the Intel Pentium Silver, I could give it a better award but in the case of this ASUS BR1100F review, I award this laptop with our Bronze Pokdeward.

Intel UHD Graphics (Jasper Lake 16 EU):
Geïntegreerde grafische kaart in Intel Jasper Lake Celeron instapmodellen op basis van de Gen.11 architectuur. Biedt 16 van de 32 EU's (Execution Units / Shader Cluster). De kloksnelheid is afhankelijk van het processormodel en varieert van 350 MHz basis tot 800 MHz boost. De Jasper Lake chips worden in het 10nm-procedé bij Intel geproduceerd (vergelijkbaar met Ice Lake).
De meeste niet-veeleisende huidige games kunnen vloeiend draaien. Wees voorbereid op verminderde grafische weergave door lage detailinstellingen en lage resoluties. Toch verschaffen deze kaarten voldoende prestatie voor kantoor taken en video bekijken (niet voor HD videos).

Celeron N4500:
Zuinige dual-core SoC uit de Jasper Lake serie voor voordelige notebooks. Draait met kloksnelheden tussen 1,1 - 2,8 GHz en integreert een DirectX 12 capabele grafische adapter met 16 EU's en tot 750 MHz. De CPU-kernen zijn kleiner en trager dan in de Core CPU's (bv. Ice Lake), maar vervaardigd in hetzelfde 10nm-procedé.

11.60": Deze schermdiagonaal is redelijk groot voor tablets maar klein voor subnotebooks. Sommige convertibles hebben ook dit formaat.
Grote schermformaten laten hogere resoluties toe. Details zoals letters zijn groter. Anderzijds is het energieverbruik lager bij kleine schermdiagonalen en de toestellen zijn kleiner, lichter en goedkoper.

1.4 kg: Dit gewicht is typisch voor erg grote tablets, subnotebooks, ultrabooks en convertibles met een 11-13 inch schermdiagonaal.

De klanttevredenheid over ASUS-notebooks heeft betrekking op de prestaties, de functies en de goede prijs-prestatieverhouding van ASUS-notebooks. Zoals bij elk merk zijn er echter af en toe meldingen van problemen zoals oververhitting, drivercompatibiliteit of problemen met de bouwkwaliteit.
78.23%: Dit cijfer is niet echt overtuigend. Het moet in acht worden genomen dat er bijna geen laptops zijn die een score onder de 60% hebben. Dit notebook is beneden gemiddeld beoordeeld, en is niet aanbevolen te kopen.
