Acer zet met de Predator Helios 300 een interessante gaminglaptop op de markt. De behuizing is erg degelijk vormgegeven en ondanks enige typische gamingaccenten kun je hem ook prima in andere settings gebruiken. Belangrijk voor een gaminglaptop is natuurlijk krachtige hardware en in dat opzicht stelt Acer niet teleur. De combinatie van een krachtige Intel- proccessor, een ruime hoeveelheid ram, snelle ssd en een prima grafische kaart zorgen ervoor dat je comfortabel in Full HD kunt gamen. Ook voor andere zware (kantoor)taken is de Predator Helios 300 prima geschikt. Het enige kleine minpuntje is dat het scherm wat blauw oogt en dat ips niet de beste reactiesnelheid kent. Daar staat tegenover dat je wel goede inkijkhoeken krijgt en dat is voor een laptop wel zo prettig.

The system boot and game load times on the Acer Predator Helios 300 is quite low. As most of it is handled by the large SSD within the machine. This machine is not a power hog either, 180W is what it consumes at max. The design is slim (because of which there is no DVD drive) and weight of 2.65Kg does make this notebook portable. All this seemed good and we almost moved past the "hot performance" till our eyes went over the price tag. The asking price of Rs 1,69,999 is steep and there is stiff competition from makers like ASUS, and MSI. Both have machines with similar tech specs at lesser price.

So is the 17-inch Helios 300 worth it? Well, the pricing of the machine is crucial and unfortunately, Acer wasn’t able to bring the price of this machine lower than the new 17-inch Acer Aspire V 17 Nitro BE and the Predator 17 (G5-793 with GTX 1060). So there’s not really a good reason to opt for the Helios 300 instead of the Predator 17, for instance, unless you really want the 7th generation Intel CPU and better portability because these are the only things in which the Helios 300 is better. And what about the 15-incher? With a display like this, the 17-inch Helios 300 appears to be the smarter choice here but you will give up some of the portability and the better build.

Grote schermformaten laten hogere resoluties toe. Details zoals letters zijn groter. Anderzijds is het energieverbruik lager bij kleine schermdiagonalen en de toestellen zijn kleiner, lichter en goedkoper.
