Hello, and good bye again. Intel's Sandy Bridge CPUs were slowly finding their way into new notebooks. Among others, Acer's Aspire 5750G, a multimedia all-rounder with a 2630QM quad core and Nvidia GT540M. Beyond that, Nvidia Optimus provides a quiet office use and good battery runtimes. However, we will likely have to wait for a while until the laptop is available in retail.

If you don't want to pay a high price for a high-end processor like the Sandy Bridge Core i7, the Aspire 5750G is a way to get the performance and reasonable battery life, without breaking the budget. You're not paying for unusually fancy design (although we think the blue case is stylish) and you're getting most of what you need, including a decent keyboard and good graphics. The screen is slightly disappointing and we'd like to see more than one USB 3.0 port, but it had the rest of the spec to match the processor you'd be paying rather more than this. This notebook makes Core i7 definitely affordable.

NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M: Aankomende grafische kaart gebaseerd op dezelfde chip als de GeForce GT 435M, maar met iets hogere kloksnelheden.
De meeste niet-veeleisende huidige games kunnen vloeiend draaien. Wees voorbereid op verminderde grafische weergave door lage detailinstellingen en lage resoluties. Toch verschaffen deze kaarten voldoende prestatie voor kantoor taken en video bekijken (niet voor HD videos).
