Wat een heerlijke laptop is dit. Eindelijk een 15" lichtgewicht laptop (maar 2kg!!) waarmee je tot 9 uur in de tuin, trein of op de bank kunt werken (ik heb de uren niet geteld, maar het was lang). Een heel mooi scherm, maar wat had je anders van samsung verwacht :-). De degelijkheid weet ik nog niet want ik heb hem pas een paar dagen, maar hij voelt degelijk aan. Multi-touch is grappig, maar nog niet echt gebruikt. Geluidskwaliteit zoals elke laptop.

After last week’s Asus UL50Vg, there’s now another option if you're after a relatively thin and light laptop with a large screen and, potentially, excellent battery life. Indeed, Samsung’s 15.6in X520 has more or less the same specifications as the Asus, including Intel's Consumer Ultra Low Voltage (CULV) processor. With the X520, Samsung has created a competent but never outstanding laptop and while it’s not a bad buy, at this size there are better options available.

Despite its low-powered processor, the X520 is perfectly adequate for undemanding users who aren't going to be doing much more than surfing the Internet, word processing and a bit of image-editing. And with good battery life and a decent keyboard, the X520 has got plenty going for it. On the downside, it's fairly expensive at £649. However, with Samsung releasing laptops like there's no tomorrow, its models tend to fall in price only a few months after they're released.

Decent performance and comfort, but its not the most portable CULV laptop Samsung's X-series is made up entirely of machines powered by Intel CULV processors. The X520 is the largest laptop in the X-Series, making it one of the least portable, but its size makes it very comfortable to use and performance also proved to be good. The Samsung X520 offers a good mix of power and comfort, with portability slightly lacking. If you want a machine to accompany you on the daily commute, you should probably look elsewhere, but if you're not put off by its size or weight, this is a great option.

with smooth, curved edges and an eye-pleasing design, the 15.6in X520 slips into Samsung’s new X-series range. With its good, albeit not nine-hour, battery life and a rather enticing design, the X520 certainly has its plus points. And despite some unnecessary design imperfections, such as the springy numeric keypad and thin trackpad buttons, it’s a decent choice for mobile workers. Alternatively, if you’re willing to shave an inch off the display, the X420 will save you around £50.

Following the trend for slimmed down, light machines with good battery life, the Samsung X520 is setting its stall out in a crowded marketplace, notable competitors are MSI and Acer. To stand out, it has a dual-core processor and build in DVD burner. Samsung have come up with a successful model in the slim, light, good battery life laptop department. You get close to 5 hours video play. Although the X520 gives limited performance, it’ll be enough for office docs, internet and a bit of photo work and video.

Samsung: Samsung Group is het grootste Zuid-Koreaanse conglomeraat en werd opgericht in 1938. Samsung Group had in 2014 489.000 mensen in dienst en is een van 's werelds grootste bedrijven in termen van omzet en marktsterkte. De naam Samsung betekent "Drie Sterren" in het Koreaans en staat voor de drie zonen van de oprichter van het bedrijf. Het bedrijf werd in 1938 opgericht als kruidenierswinkel. Met haar dochteronderneming Samsung Electronics, opgericht in 1969, begon Samsung met de productie van elektrotechnische artikelen, met de focus op consumentenelektronica en huishoudelijke apparaten in een vroeg stadium. Andere branches waarin het grote concern actief is, zijn onder meer machinebouw, auto's (Hyundai), verzekeringen, groothandel, onroerend goed en vrije tijd. Samsung produceert een breed scala aan elektronische producten, waaronder smartphones, televisies, huishoudelijke apparaten en halfgeleiders. De Galaxy-smartphonelijn van het bedrijf is een van de meest populaire ter wereld. Samsung is ook een belangrijke speler in de halfgeleiderindustrie en maakt geheugenchips en processors voor veel andere elektronicafabrikanten.

Alleen oudere games kunnen vloeiend draaien met deze grafische chips (als ze niet veeleisend zijn). Gedeeld geheugen grafische cores in deze categorie hebben het voordeel van minder warmte-ontwikkeling en langere batterijlooptijd. Voor kantoor, internet, beeldcorrectie- en videomonteringswerk zijn deze grafische chips nog steeds bruikbaar zonder enige beperkingen.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 4500M: De Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD (soms ook GMA X4500 HD genoemd) is een DirectX 10 onboard videokaart voor de GM45, GE45 en GS45 chipset van het Centrino 2 platform (Montevina). De chip heeft geen eigen geheugen, maar kan dynamisch gebruik maken van het RAM geheugen (tot 384MB).  

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 4500MHD: Deze onboard (gedeeld geheugen) GPU is geïntegreerd in de GM45-chipset (Montevina). Door twee extra shaders en een hogere kloksnelheid is hij veel sneller dan de oude GMA X3100. Toch is hij niet aan te raden voor gamers (DirectX 10 games niet speelbaar of alleen met zeer lage grafische instellingen). De geïntegreerde grafische video processor kan de CPU helpen bij het decoderen van HD video’s, om zo het vloeiend afspelen van bijvoorbeeld Blu-Ray films toch mogelijk te maken met een trage CPU.

Intel Core 2 Solo:

SU3500: Energie efficiënte single core processor voor kleine subnotebooks die gebaseerd is op de Penryn core en er alle functionaliteiten (zoals virtualizatie, C6 sate,...) van heeft. De prestaties zijn vergelijkbaar met een 1,7 GHz Athlon II Neo K125.

Intel Pentium Dual Core: De naam Pentium is terug, maar een Yonah core. Double Core processor met een zeer goede verhouding tussen prestatie en stroomverbruik.
