Lenovo has done a good job of accommodating a touchscreen without sacrificing the best qualities of the X1 Carbon. Ergonomics, screen quality and performance are all more than up to scratch. The glaring question, however, is whether touch is worth paying a premium for on a business laptop. With the standard X1 Carbon delivering better battery life and twice the amount of RAM for over £200 less, we’re not convinced.

Yet another Windows 8 Ultrabook touch screen notebook is the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch. It has a 14-inch display with an attractive design, a backlit keyboard and a responsive touch screen. It does suffer from below average battery life and is light on ports. The design of the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch is almost a carbon copy to the previous Windows 7 version that lacked a touch screen. The chassis is made of carbon fiber while the keyboard deck and bottom are magnesium. This provides a very sturdy exterior that will certainly survive some bumps and will look good too.

It's a shame every touchscreen Ultrabook we've tested delivers such skimpy battery life. It forces us to recalibrate our expectations, and not necessarily in a good way. One of the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon's biggest shortcomings is that its built-in battery only lasts five hours on a charge. That's a disappointment but again, we don't know of many touchscreen laptops that fare better.

Intel HD Graphics 4000: Processor grafische kaart in high-end Ivy Bridge modellen. Biedt verschillende kloksnelheden voor verschillende CPU modellen (ULV tot desktop quad-core) en levert daardoor verschillende prestaties.

De meeste niet-veeleisende huidige games kunnen vloeiend draaien. Wees voorbereid op verminderde grafische weergave door lage detailinstellingen en lage resoluties. Toch verschaffen deze kaarten voldoende prestatie voor kantoor taken en video bekijken (niet voor HD videos).

3667U: Snelste Ivy-Bridge ULV-CPU van Q2 2012. Heeft een kloksnelheid van 2.0 - 3.1 GHz en een HD 4000 GPU (350 - 1150 MHz). Het TDP staat op 17 watt.

14.00": Dit schermformaat wordt vooral gebruikt voor subnotebooks, ultrabooks en convertibles. Voor alle drie types is dit formaat redelijk groot. De grootste verscheidenheid aan subnotebooks wordt vertegenwoordigd in deze klasse.

Grote schermformaten laten hogere resoluties toe. Details zoals letters zijn groter. Anderzijds is het energieverbruik lager bij kleine schermdiagonalen en de toestellen zijn kleiner, lichter en goedkoper.

1.516 kg: Dit gewicht is typisch voor erg grote tablets, subnotebooks, ultrabooks en convertibles met een 11-13 inch schermdiagonaal.

Lenovo: Lenovo ("Le" uit de Engelse legende, novo (Latijn voor nieuw) werd in 1984 opgericht als Chinees handelsbedrijf in computers. In 2004 was het bedrijf de grootste laptopfabrikant in China en, na de overname van IBM's pc-divisie in 2005, de op drie na grootste ter wereld.
