LG sees itself as a cool fashion brand, producing popular mobile phones under its own name and with Prada branding, some innovative flatpanel monitors and TVs - and in the LG Netbook X110m, a better-than-average netbook. The LG Netbook X110 conforms to most netbook criteria: it's durable but with dainty proportions, has a limited specification list in line with the breed and runs the evergreen Windows XP Home. LG has put together a superior netbook that is more attractive than some, runs faster than most and is eminently usable too. If it weren't for the curiously poor battery performance, we'd have been happy to award the LG Netbook X110 our Recommended badge.

What isn’t conducive to use on the move, however, is the battery life. In fact you’ll only get about 2 hours and 15 minutes from the standard three-cell battery, which is poor performance by any measure. There isn’t a low power mode either to save you from this problem, so you’ll have to look for and buy a six-cell battery, or not stray very far from the mains. But there is also another problem that might irritate mobile workers that comes back to the solid feeling build: the screen is too heavy. This might seem like a small point, but if you sit the X110 down on anything that isn’t a flat desk, with the lid open, it wants to topple backwards.

It's a very cute, almost pocketable addition to the netbook genre and while the 3G modem addition could be useful, it also comes at a price. Even without it however, this is still a very attractive netbook for use on the move, preferably with the back-up of a proper desktop at home or at work, though the shortish battery life won't allow you to stray from the mains for long.

After receiving the LG X120, which, as a netbook, is delightful to look at, I couldn't help but stroll into my local RadioShack before reviewing the product. You see, Radio Shack the only place where the X120 is available, and interestingly enough this is the first LG netbook, or any laptop for that matter, to ever debut in the United States. The X120 is LG?s first netbook attempt in the United States, and it has embedded 3G—provided you commit to a 2-year, $60/month contract.

LG: LG Electronics is de 2de grootste producent van televisies en de 3de grootste producent van mobiele telefoons. Hun hoofdkantoor is gevestigd in Zuid-Koreau, het bedrijf heeft wereldwijd 75 dochterondernemingen die televisies, home appliances en telecommunicatie toestellen ontwerpen en produceren. LG is een internationale laptop producent van gemiddelde groote met enkele testrapporten.

LG testrapporten

Alleen oudere games kunnen vloeiend draaien met deze grafische chips (als ze niet veeleisend zijn). Gedeeld geheugen grafische cores in deze categorie hebben het voordeel van minder warmte-ontwikkeling en langere batterijlooptijd. Voor kantoor, internet, beeldcorrectie- en videomonteringswerk zijn deze grafische chips nog steeds bruikbaar zonder enige beperkingen.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 950: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 is een geïntegreerde (onboard) grafische chip op de Mobile Intel 945GM chipset. Dit is een snellere kloksnelheid versie van de GMA 900.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) HD Graphics:

Deze grafische kaarten zouden alle huidige spellen moeten kunnen draaien, maar de meeste spellen zullen alleen met gemiddelde of lage detail instellingen en lage resoluties goed werken. Oudere of minder veeleisende spellen kunnen nog wel met goede grafische instellingen gespeeld worden.

Intel Atom:

N270: Energiezuinig, goedkoop en trage netbook single core CPU. Door de in-order uitvoering zijn de prestaties per MHz lager dan van een Core Solo of Celeron M processor.

Intel Core i5:

470UM: De Core i5-430UM is een energie zuinige ultra low voltage processor voor laptops. Gebruik makend van de Turbo Boost kan hij tot 1,83 GHz geklokt worden. Met Hyperthreading kunnen 4 threads gelijktijdig verwerkt worden. AES, VT-d en Trusted Execution zijn uitgeschakeld op de 430UM. Een geïntegreerde videokaart (Intel HD Graphics met 166-500MHz) en een DDR3-800 geheugen controller zitten bij in het geheel.

3337U: ULV-CPU gebaseerd op de Ivy Bridge architectuur uit het eerste kwartaal van 2013. Heeft een kloksnelheid van 1.8 - 2.7 GHz en een HD 4000 GPU (350 - 1100 MHz). Het verbruik (TDP) staat op 17 watt.

10.2: De notebook heeft een heel klein en ongebruikelijk schermformaat voor Subnotebooks. Het voordeel is dat de subnotebook bescheiden afmetingen heeft en deze kan makkelijk vervoerd worden. Het kleine scherm heeft verder het voordeel dat het weinig stroom behoeft wat de batterijlooptijd vergroot en daardoor ook de mobiliteit. Het nadeel is dat het lezen van tekst erg vermoeiend is aan de ogen. Hoge resoluties kunnen nauwelijks gebruikt worden.

Bij het kijken naar TV op de notebook is het belangrijk in welk formaat het programma uitgezonden wordt.

15.6: 15 inch scherm varianten zijn de norm en worden voor meer dan de helft van alle notebooks gebruikt. De reden waarom zoveel mensen schermen kiezen van een gemiddeld formaat, is dat deze maat niet vermoeiend voor de ogen is, niet al te veel stroom verbruikt en dat de laptops redelijk compact blijven.
