Responstijd Scherm

De responstijden van het scherm tonen hoe snel het scherm in staat is om van één kleur naar de andere te veranderen. Trage responstijden kunnen aanleiding geven tot 'nabeelden' rond bewegende objecten of het scherm wazig maken (blur). Vooral spelers van snelle 3D-games hebben baat bij een scherm met snelle responstijden.

Dit betekent dat de gemeten responstijd vergelijkbaar is met het gemiddelde (43.1 ms) van alle geteste toestellen.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

Om de schermhelderheid te verlagen schakelen sommige laptops het backlight erg snel aan en uit. Dit gebeurt aan een dergelijk hoge frequentie dat het niet zichtbaar is voor het menselijk oog. Als de frequentie te laag is kunnen personen met gevoelige ogen geïrriteerd geraken, hoofdpijn krijgen en zelfs flickering waarnemen.

Ter vergelijking: 59 % van alle geteste toestellen maakten geen gebruik van PWM om de schermhelderheid te verlagen. Als het wel werd gebruikt, werd een gemiddelde van 457 (minimum: 43 - maximum: 10420) Hz waargenomen.

Indrukwekkend prestige object of weggegooid geld? Vergelijkbaar met een luxe sportwagen, zijn de mogelijk antwoorden op deze vraag verschillend.

Ja, je kunt stellen dat de XMG U727 gewoonweg te duur is en dat je beter af bent met een desktop PC én een game notebook. Als je niet een desktop computer wilt en toch maximale prestaties in een laptop zoekt, dan is dit model wellicht toch het overwegen waard.

Naast alle aansluitingen, het 4K beeldscherm (88% AdobeRGB!), zijn ook de uitbreidingsopties en de prestaties fantastisch. USB 3.1 Type-C met Thunderbolt 3, MXM grafische kaarten en een gesockete CPU: Schenker Technologies heeft zeker over de toekomst nagedacht en maakt een statement tegen de trend om apparaten weg te doen (trefwoord: vastgesoldeerde componenten).

Potentiële kopers moeten zich er wel bewust van zijn dat dit een weinig mobiel systeem is met erg korte batterijlevensduur. Inclusief de twee stroomadapters weegt de P870DM3-G 8 kilogram. Wij wilden de laptop in elk geval niet meer ronddragen nadat we de foto's buiten gemaakt hadden.

Bij het beschouwen van de bouwkwaliteit van de behuizing is er niet echt veel reden voor kritiek. Zowel de bouwkwaliteit als de invoerapparaten zijn meer dan fatsoenlijk. Je krijgt ook goede luidsprekers en individuele configuraties. De meegeleverd software is ook gebruiksvriendelijk. Handmatige controle over de ventilatoren en de prestaties zijn geen probleem dankzij de Control Center software.

Kortom: de XMG U727 is een optie voor welvarende hardcore gamers die maximale prestaties willen en sleutelen aan techniek niet schuwen, maar een afkeer van desktop PC's hebben. We raden een normale game notebook met enkele GPU aan voor alle andere gebruikers.
