Is de upgrade van de Galaxy S6 of Note 4 naar de Note 5 gerechtvaardigd? De push-button S Pen is aangenaam om mee te werken en veel meer dan een leuke toevoeging, terwijl het helderder en nauwkeurigere beeldscherm veel mensen zal overtuigen. Voor eigenaars van een Note 4 is de Note 5 niet bepaald een upgrade, aangezien veel functies zijn weggelaten (MHL, IR blaster, verwijderbare batterij, MicroSD). Er zijn wel functies voor in de plaats gekomen, zoals een vingerafdrukscanner, push-button S Pen, verbeterd beeldscherm en een dunnere behuizing. Gebruikers van Galaxy S6 telefoons zouden simpelweg gaan naar een groter beeldscherm met dezelfde interne hardware. Een gepastere naam zou zijn "Galaxy Note S6", aangezien het niet als grote sprong voorwaarts lijkt ten opzichte van de Note 4.

Voor anderen is de Galaxy Note 5 het uitproberen waard. Vooral de S Pen is een toevoeging die voor bepaalde gebruikers beslissend zal zijn, aangezien sommigen het gebruik goed af zal gaan, terwijl anderen de pen te klein vinden. De tester rekent zichzelf tot de laatste categorie, maar het prachtige beeldscherm en de veelbelovende S Pen moeten niet over het hoofdgezien worden.

Het is een indrukwekkend apparaat, zolang kopers in gedachte houden wat er aan ontbreekt vergeleken met z'n voorganger.
