Acer heeft opnieuw bewezen de kennis in huis te hebben een machine te maken die zowel voor gamen als thuisgebruik geschikt is. Maar laten we beginnen bij het begin.

De prestaties zijn goed uit de bus gekomen. Moderne games kunnen dankzij de GeForce GTX 1060 vloeiend gespeeld worden. Met twee ventilatoren voorkomt het koelsysteem oververhitting tijdens lange game sessies. We kunnen de GTX 1060 aanraden voor gamers, aangezien deze chip de beste prijs/prestaties verhouding heeft.

De 2017 Aspire V15 Nitro Black Edition is een volwaardige gaming laptop.

Hoewel de V15 weinig geluid produceert bij geringe belasting, wordt het apparaat behoorlijk luid tijdens het gamen. De uitstekende luidsprekers komen hier echter gemakkelijk bovenuit. De invoerapparaten zijn comfortabel en de onderhoudsmogelijkheden uitzonderlijk. Een mat, contrastrijk IPS beeldscherm maakt het af. Hoewel het paneel niet het gehele kleurenspectrum dekt, is er geen gebruik gemaakt van PWM.

De looptijden van zes uur zijn vergelijkbaar met die van concurrenten. Dit leidt ons naar de tekortkomingen. Ten eerste vinden we het dunne beeldscherm met zwakke scharnieren enigszins instabiel. Daarnaast presteert de webcam slecht en laat de snelheid van de harde schijf veel te wensen over. Dit laatste kan worden voorkomen door te kiezen voor een V15 met SSD.

De imperfecte behuizing blijft, ondanks een nieuwe aluminium afwerking. Onderhoudsvriendelijkheid is er wel op vooruitgegaan.

Gamers zouden ook de Asus Strix GL502VM moeten overwegen. Hoewel die notebook nog steeds draait op een Broadwell quad core, krijg je voor dezelfde prijs (€1400) als onze Aspire VN7-593G-73HP ook een SSD. De Strix is niet superieur op elk vlak: er is geen Thunderbolt 3 aanwezig; alleen een standaard Type-C USB 3.0 aansluiting.
