EN→NLWe've already discussed our thoughts on the UL80Vt and G51J - you can read the details on pages two and three. Both are great laptops, and while we didn't give either the coveted Gold award they are closer than we've come in quite some time. For those that are wondering, anything earning a Bronze Editors' Choice is (at least in my mind) a 90% score; Silver means 93%, and Gold means 95% or higher. Basically, Gold awards are reserved for unequivocal recommendations, and we do have a few minor complaints with both of these laptops, mostly oriented around the LCDs.

EN→NLASUS' UL80Vt is a 14in notebook that's built for people who want plenty of features and good speed, yet want a laptop that's reasonably light and capable of lasting a long time away from a power outlet. If a reasonably thin and light notebook with excellent battery life sounds like your cup of tea, then the ASUS UL80Vt is for you. At 14in it's easy to use, yet not a burden to carry around. It's well built, looks good and performs well, but it does lack some connectivity options such as eSATA.

EN→NLThe UL80Vt isn't perfect though. While the keyboard was stellar and the multi-touch aspect of the trackpad were a plus, we still aren't into the dimpled pad and the glossy LCD. For those working outdoors, this screen could potentially be a major nuisance. Also, the relatively low 1366x768 resolution is nothing to write home about, and the slower 5400rpm (320GB) hard drive isn't all that quick when it comes time to boot or load applications for the first time. Still, we think the positives far outweigh the negatives when all things are considered. For just over $800, this is a really well-rounded machine.

NVIDIA GeForce G 210M: De nVidia GeForce G 210M is een DirectX 10.1 videokaart voor laptops gebaseerd op de GT218 core. Net als zijn voorganger heeft hij 16 shaders maar zijn de kloksnelheden drastisch verhoogt. Door het 40nm productie proces zou het stroomverbruik gelijk blijven.
De core van de G 210M wordt intern GT218 genoemd en is volgens nVidia gebaseerd op de huidige high-end desktop architectuur (GTX 200 series).
Deze grafische kaarten zouden alle huidige spellen moeten kunnen draaien, maar de meeste spellen zullen alleen met gemiddelde of lage detail instellingen en lage resoluties goed werken. Oudere of minder veeleisende spellen kunnen nog wel met goede grafische instellingen gespeeld worden.

Intel Core 2 Duo: Dit is de Core Duo, de opvolger van de Core Solo met een langere pipeline en 5-20% meer snelheid zonder een hoger stroomverbruik. Als een aanvulling op het Core Duo ontwerp zit er een vierde decoder op, een versterkte SSE-unit en een extra reken-, logische unit (ALU).
De Core 2 Duo voor laptops is identiek aan de desktop Core 2 Duo processors maar de notebook-processors werken met een lagere spanning en een lagere Frontside bus klok. De prestatie van gelijk-geklokte notebooks is 20-25% lager dan Desktop PCs vanwege de lagere Frontside bus klok en de langzamere harde schijf.

14.0": 14 inch scherm grootte is een mengeling tussen het kleine subnotebook formaat en het 15 inch standaard scherm. De reden waarom zoveel mensen schermen kiezen van een gemiddeld formaat, is dat deze maat niet vermoeiend voor de ogen is, niet al te veel stroom verbruikt en dat de laptops redelijk compact blijven.

2.2 kg: Dit notebook is veel lichter dan de gemiddelde notebook.
Asus: ASUSTeK Computer incorporated, een Taiwanees multinational bedrijf, produceerd moederborden, videokaarten, optische stations, PDA’s, computerschermen, laptops, servers, netwerk producten, mobiele telefoons, computer behuizingen, computer onderdelen en zelfs computer koelingssystemen. De omzet van het bedrijf bedroeg in 2007 6,9 miljard US dollar. Asus produceerd ook onderdelen voor andere fabrikanten. Hun Eee PC wordt gezien als de grondslag van de netbooks in 2008.
