You'll think the VX2SE is either vulgar and flash or stunning, but either way its build quality and finish cannot be denied. It is also pretty expensive for a 15.4-inch notebook, but it's certainly one to impress the neighbours... just not quite as much as a real Gallardo.

Alas, you pay a hefty premium for all the luxury parts and carefully crafted design elements of the ASUS-Lamborghini VX2S. Even Apple, known for luxurious price tags, sells its MacBook Pro 15-inch for under $2,000. For race-car enthusiasts, price is probably not an object when it comes to the VX2S. Its superior design and high-end performance parts are worthy of the Lamborghini name. It takes a collective effort from engineers to design something as sexy and as fast as the Asus Lamborghini VX2S.

Een heel mooi compact notebookje, dat gezien mag worden. De prestaties zijn prima en de gebruiksmogelijkheden legio. De definitieve prijs is nog niet bekend maar zal zo’n driehonderd euro lager zijn dan die van de Lamgorghini VX2. Dit maakt het toch wel een notebook voor de liefhebber.

When it comes to performance, you won't find this machine lacking. Packing in an Intel Centrino 2 package, you'll find a 2.5GHz Core 2 Duo T9300 processor, which is a fast, mid-level processor. Supported by 4096MB of memory, you'll find applications load quickly and run smoothly. We found the VX3 to be perfect for anyone looking to use their laptop as their sole machine, and the use of a dedicated graphics card helps it to pack in plenty of power without sacrificing its portable nature.

Around a year and a half ago we looked at the Asus Lambourghini VX2 and we were pretty enamoured with it. For a start, it gave us some actual justification for the usual TR habit of populating our reviews with more car analogies than a Bugatti Veyron has horsepower. Moreover, while the styling didn't really pay homage to the Lambo's namesake, it was still distinctive enough to persuade us it would appeal to supercar aficionados. Yes the VX3 is pricey, even overpriced, but what does that matter? It's a Lambourghini for goodness sake! There's nothing out there you can buy that's quite the same. (But I'll still have a Porsche 911 GT3 RS instead thanks - ed.)

When we recently reviewed Asus's ultraportable U2E, we thought that the premium end of the light laptop market had reached a zenith of luxury: a leather-clad chassis, a keyboard surrounded by brushed metal and a velvet pouch for the machine itself. We've been proved wrong, though, by the arrival of the Asus Lamborghini VX3. As the name attests, Asus has joined forces with the luxury car manufacturer with the aim of producing a laptop of unrivalled quality and performance. A hugely powerful luxury ultraportable, but it's undermined by poor ergonomics and a wallet-busting price.

Those who can afford the $3,299 ASUS Lamborghini VX3 will enjoy fast performance, discrete graphics, and bragging rights. If you can live with a slightly smaller 11-inch display but still want a notebook that will turn heads, check out the leather-clad ASUS U2E ($2,699), whose ultra-low voltage processor lasts longer. If performance is key and you’re on a budget, the $1,999 Acer Ferrari isn’t a bad deal. But for power-hungry road warriors with money to burn, the VX3 is an attractive option.

It deserves an above average rating solely due to the features, performance and overall quality. The price is ridiculous.

This laptop is better than the previous 12-inch ION-powered ASUS netbook in two respects - a dual-core Atom processor and the USB 3.0 ports. Otherwise, it is more or less the same in terms of functionality. The VX6 falls in a weird category. It is far too expensive to be called a netbook. If your objective is to watch hi-def movies and have moderately powerful internals under the hood, then 40 grand can also fetch you the 13-inch variant of the Acer Timeline X 4820T we tested; if you're willing to let go of the car-branding. From an individual stand-point, the VX6 left me a little dissatisfied on a few counts like the battery life and lacking Optimus tech (which could've improved the battery life). If you insist on buying a 12-inch netbook, then the 1201NL worth Rs. 27,000 will do almost everything the VX6 can, except for the USB 3.0 high-speed data transfers.

With ultra-low power laptops approaching netbook levels of battery life (and in some cases surpassing it) and with tablets usurping the netbook's traditional role as companion device, netbooks need to do something different to stand out. Despite the styling and the Lamborghini branding, the VX6 remains an Eee in wolf's clothing. You're paying a premium price for something that could be bought a lot cheaper elsewhere, and no matter how fancy the looks, the fact that this is a 32-bit Atom with only 2GB of RAM and no GPU shows as soon as you try to run any demanding applications. Sadly then, the NV6 doesn't even reach go-cart levels, despite its sports car looks - instead it's just a die-cast children's' toy sat in the window of the show room.

Asus: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. is een grote Taiwanese fabrikant van computerhardware gevestigd in Taipei, opgericht in 1989. Onder de merknaam Asus produceert het bedrijf een breed scala aan producten, waaronder laptops, desktops, moederborden, grafische kaarten, monitoren, smartphones en netwerkapparatuur, complete systemen en pc-onderdelen voor eindgebruikers.

Onder de merknaam ROG (Republic of Gamers) produceert ASUS gaming laptops die bij gamers bekend staan om hun krachtige specificaties, speciale grafische kaarten, schermen met hoge verversingssnelheid en geavanceerde koelsystemen.

Naast gaming wordt een breed scala aan notebooks aangeboden voor verschillende behoeften en budgetten, van ultraslanke en lichtgewicht ultrabooks tot veelzijdige 2-in-1 convertibles en budgetvriendelijke opties. In 2023 had Asus wereldwijd een marktaandeel van 7% op de pc-markt.

De klanttevredenheid over ASUS-notebooks heeft betrekking op de prestaties, de functies en de goede prijs-prestatieverhouding van ASUS-notebooks. Zoals bij elk merk zijn er echter af en toe meldingen van problemen zoals oververhitting, drivercompatibiliteit of problemen met de bouwkwaliteit.

Alleen oudere games kunnen vloeiend draaien met deze grafische chips (als ze niet veeleisend zijn). Gedeeld geheugen grafische cores in deze categorie hebben het voordeel van minder warmte-ontwikkeling en langere batterijlooptijd. Voor kantoor, internet, beeldcorrectie- en videomonteringswerk zijn deze grafische chips nog steeds bruikbaar zonder enige beperkingen.

NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT: NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT is de capabele opvolger van de GeForce Go 7600 GT voor laptops die in staat is DirectX 10 te draaien. Afhankelijk van het gebruikte grafische geheugen en de kloksnelheid, is de prestatie tussen die van de 7600 GT en 7900 GS video kaart. Daarom kunnen huidige spellen zoals Company of Heroes, Supreme Commander, or F.E.A.R vloeiend gespeeld worden in een resolutie van 1024 of vergelijkbaar. Gamers die altijd supersnelle frame rates verwachten, moeten geduld hebben tot de 8800 series van NVidia verschijnt.

NVIDIA GeForce 9300M G: Verbeterde 8400M GS chip die is gebakken op het 65nm formaat en iets betere prestaties kan leveren door enkele kleine optimalisaties.

NVIDIA ION 2: ION2 is een GT218 videochip voor Pinetrail Atom systemen (D510, D410, N450) met 8 of 16 shader cores, afhankelijk van het platform (10”, 12”, desktop). Vergeleken met de eerdere ION 1, is de ION 2 een dedicated videokaart (met enkel een PCIe 1x connectie door de Pinetrail beperkingen) gebaseerd op de GeForce 305M / 310M. Ondersteund PureVideo HD om HD video’s te decoderen.

De meeste niet-veeleisende huidige games kunnen vloeiend draaien. Wees voorbereid op verminderde grafische weergave door lage detailinstellingen en lage resoluties. Toch verschaffen deze kaarten voldoende prestatie voor kantoor taken en video bekijken (niet voor HD videos).

NVIDIA GeForce GT 130M: De GeForce GT 130M is een hoger geklokte versie van de GeForce 9650M GT met een iets lagere TDP (niveau van de 9600M GT). De prestaties verschillen wat naar gelang het gebruikte geheugen (DDR3 tot 1066MHz en DDR tot 600 MHz). PhysX wordt alleen ondersteunt bij gebruik van SLI.

Intel Core 2 Duo: Dit is de Core Duo, de opvolger van de Core Solo met een langere pipeline en 5-20% meer snelheid zonder een hoger stroomverbruik. Als een aanvulling op het Core Duo ontwerp zit er een vierde decoder op, een versterkte SSE-unit en een extra reken-, logische unit (ALU).
De Core 2 Duo voor laptops is identiek aan de desktop Core 2 Duo processors maar de notebook-processors werken met een lagere spanning en een lagere Frontside bus klok. De prestatie van gelijk-geklokte notebooks is 20-25% lager dan Desktop PCs vanwege de lagere Frontside bus klok en de langzamere harde schijf.

T7500: De Core 2 Duo T7500 is een Merom Core 2 Duo met 4MB Level 2 cache. Hij zit het middensegment (2009) en presteert vergelijkbaar met een moderne P7550 of Turion II Ultra M640/M660.

T9300: De T9300 is een snelle dual core processor uit het middensegment voor laptops en is vergelijkbaar met de T9400 maar heeft een lagere FSB.

Intel Core 2 Quad:

Q9000: Traag geklokte quad core CPU (4 cores) die voornamelijk in games last heeft van de lage kloksnelheid. Daardoor is hij niet geschikt voor games en enkel voor sterk multi-threaded applicaties.

1.5 kg:

Dit gewicht is typisch voor erg grote tablets, subnotebooks, ultrabooks en convertibles met een 11-13 inch schermdiagonaal.

3.5 kg:

76.18%: Dit cijfer is niet echt overtuigend. Het moet in acht worden genomen dat er bijna geen laptops zijn die een score onder de 60% hebben. Dit notebook is beneden gemiddeld beoordeeld, en is niet aanbevolen te kopen.
