EN→NL Archive.org versionWhen you place yourself and this notebook in any comfortable position you prefer, you will notice that Vista simply “flies” and applications react almost instantly at your commands. Unfortunately gaming performances aren’t on same level as rest of this notebook. Simply put, native resolution is too much for nVIDIA 9700GT graphics card and this will result in usage of middle of low settings in most contemporary games. If you don’t mind playing games with settings not set at “High” (or “Highest”) than this can be model for you. If you want to play games on “High” and enjoy in best gaming experience on notebook then you must wait a little bit more for some of models that will have slightly slower CPU and better graphics card.

This means the system lacks features such as the Blu-ray drive found on the A versions but instead features a more powerful GeForce 9800M mobile graphics. Even though it is performance oriented with the high speed Core 2 Duo, ASUS decided to use DDR2 memory to cut down on costs but it also holds back the system in memory intensice applications. Overall, a good system for computer gaming but might not be as good for general purpose computing.

The ASUS G71G-Q1 ($2,000 street) is close to the bleeding edge, packing features like an Intel quad-core processor, a Blu-ray reader, and cavernous hard drives. It's almost the total package, but it falls short on the one thing that matters most to gamers: graphics. Although the Nvidia GeForce 9800M GS card it comes with is considered a very good gaming card, there are systems that deliver higher frame rates for about the same price. The ASUS G71G-Q1 makes a perfect media center or desktop replacement laptop, but if frame rates are paramount for you, there are systems that carry better graphics cards.

Asus: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. is een grote Taiwanese fabrikant van computerhardware gevestigd in Taipei, opgericht in 1989. Onder de merknaam Asus produceert het bedrijf een breed scala aan producten, waaronder laptops, desktops, moederborden, grafische kaarten, monitoren, smartphones en netwerkapparatuur, complete systemen en pc-onderdelen voor eindgebruikers.
Onder de merknaam ROG (Republic of Gamers) produceert ASUS gaming laptops die bij gamers bekend staan om hun krachtige specificaties, speciale grafische kaarten, schermen met hoge verversingssnelheid en geavanceerde koelsystemen.
Naast gaming wordt een breed scala aan notebooks aangeboden voor verschillende behoeften en budgetten, van ultraslanke en lichtgewicht ultrabooks tot veelzijdige 2-in-1 convertibles en budgetvriendelijke opties. In 2023 had Asus wereldwijd een marktaandeel van 7% op de pc-markt.
De klanttevredenheid over ASUS-notebooks heeft betrekking op de prestaties, de functies en de goede prijs-prestatieverhouding van ASUS-notebooks. Zoals bij elk merk zijn er echter af en toe meldingen van problemen zoals oververhitting, drivercompatibiliteit of problemen met de bouwkwaliteit.
De meeste niet-veeleisende huidige games kunnen vloeiend draaien. Wees voorbereid op verminderde grafische weergave door lage detailinstellingen en lage resoluties. Toch verschaffen deze kaarten voldoende prestatie voor kantoor taken en video bekijken (niet voor HD videos).
NVIDIA GeForce 9700M GT: Opvolger van de 8700M GT en met een hogere kloksnelheid van de 9600M GT. Verbeterde video engine voor het decoderen van HD video’s (PureVideo HD - VP2), HybridPower, CUDA en PhysX ondersteuning.
Deze grafische kaarten zouden alle huidige spellen moeten kunnen draaien, maar de meeste spellen zullen alleen met gemiddelde of lage detail instellingen en lage resoluties goed werken. Oudere of minder veeleisende spellen kunnen nog wel met goede grafische instellingen gespeeld worden.
NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GS: Net als de 9800M GTS is de 9800M GS gebaseerd op de G94 core maar met een lagere kloksnelheid. Hij wordt op 55 nm geproduceerd en heeft daarmee een lager stroomverbruik (60W). De geïntegreerde PureVideo HD engine is in staat HD video’s te decoderen.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M: De GeForce GTX 260M is eigelijk een hoger geklokte GeForce 9800M GTX op 55 nanometer geproduceerd en gebaseerd op de G92b core (en daarom niet vergelijkbaar met de desktop GTX 260). In vergelijking met de 9800M GTX, is de GTX 280M op 55 nanometer geproduceerd en daarom hoger geklokt.

Intel Core 2 Duo: Dit is de Core Duo, de opvolger van de Core Solo met een langere pipeline en 5-20% meer snelheid zonder een hoger stroomverbruik. Als een aanvulling op het Core Duo ontwerp zit er een vierde decoder op, een versterkte SSE-unit en een extra reken-, logische unit (ALU).
De Core 2 Duo voor laptops is identiek aan de desktop Core 2 Duo processors maar de notebook-processors werken met een lagere spanning en een lagere Frontside bus klok. De prestatie van gelijk-geklokte notebooks is 20-25% lager dan Desktop PCs vanwege de lagere Frontside bus klok en de langzamere harde schijf.
T9400: De T9400 is een snelle processor uit het middensegment voor laptops en is eigenlijk een Core 2 Duo P9500 met een hogere TDP van 35 Watt.
T9550: De T9550 is een middenklasse dual core CPU uit de Core 2 Duo reeks en is vergelijkbaar met de P9600 (op de hogere TDP van de T9550 na - 35 vs 25 W). De prestaties van de T9550 zijn voldoende voor de meeste applicaties en games uit 2009.
