Lekker licht netbookje. Ziet er goed uit en is degelijk gebouwd. Het touchpad is even wennen. Beeldkwaliteit is subliem voor zo'n klein apparaatje. HDMI uit is natuurlijk helemaal van deze tijd. Al vraag ik me het nut van deze HDMI af, want HD films kun je theoretisch wel afspelen, ook over HDMI, maar daar is dit computertje simpelweg VEEL te traag voor.
Ik zit er zelfs aan te denken om Windows 7 (met die hele puinbak aan meegeleverde onzin-software) er af te gooien en Windows XP er op te zetten want hij is niet vooruit te branden. Met dat ik dit typ zie ik de woorden een halve seconde na de toetsaanslag op het scherm verschijnen.

Ultra-portable or ULV laptops turn out to be expensive because of their hardware, especially the processor. On the other hand, when you find a netbook which performs as well as an ultra-portable laptop, with almost the same form factor, at a much lower price, it's very hard to resist. We'd say that at Rs 29,000, it's a good pick! But again, this does not apply to someone who's looking for a laptop , where, you'd obviously look for performance as opposed to portability. But if you're looking for a good balance of both, this one offers good value for money.

Multimedia takes centre-stage on Asus' new Eee PC 1201N netbook.  Although it might look just like the brand's other netbooks from the outside, there's some rather unusual hardware on the inside.  The combination of a dual-core Intel Atom processor and Nvidia's ION graphics chipset gives the 1201N a real boost. The Asus Eee PC 1201N performs well and introduces some faster components. Almost an ultra-portable PC rather than a netbook, we would have been happier with less use of glossy materials and a better processor (a CULV for instance). We suspect the Eee PC 1201N could be one of the more highly anticipated netbooks given that the Ion-based IdeaPad S12 was delayed to the point where the buzz had died down. A dual-core CPU paired with an Ion GPU is a recipe for success, and this is easily the most potent netbook we've seen to date. You get a roomy 12.1" display, full-size keyboard, 6-cell battery (that can last 3.5 hours even under pressure), an Ion GPU and a dual-core CPU for under $500.

Heb deze laptop met Atom processor gekocht als 2e laptop met Win7 Home Premium erop. Gelukkig is er geen virusscanner af fabriek geinstalleerd want de Atom heeft het al (te) druk met Windows 7 zelf.

De pc hikt vaak richting 100% cpu time.

Het afspelen van youtube (flash) op 480p gaat maar net goed, maar veel ruimte houd je niet over.

Leuke laptop, lekker licht, super lang op een akku (ca 6 tot 7 uur), dat maakt veel goed. Ik ga komende tijd onderzoeken of ik windows 7 niet meer getweakt kan krijgen waardoor ik reserve CPU tijd overhoud. Windows 7 is te log voor deze hardware, met XP zou hij beter draaien, maar daar is het probleem mee hoe lang dat er nog updates voor komen vanuit microsoft.

The Eee PC 1201HA is priced at Rs. 24,000 plus tax. Of the previous two models we tested, the NVIDIA ION based 1201NL sells for just Rs. 2,000 more. A typical 10-inch netbook with a slightly faster processor sells in the range of Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 18,000. So, that's an extra six grand that you'll pay at least for the 1201HA, to get two more inches of screen size, and slightly better ergonomics. If you look at it this way, the 1201HA's price does feel a little on the higher side.

The Eee PC 1201T sells for just about Rs. 21,500 (excluding taxes) but beware of the fact that it comes with no OS on-board. So you'll have to shell out more if you want to install Windows on it later. It is the first model we've tested that has broken netbook barriers in some respects. Overall, the 1201T is a good option for people who are interested in HD playback. But we really missed an HDMI port on it and we're sure many will feel the same. Also, if you're looking for a netbook with a five-hour plus battery life, then the 1201T is not for you. However, if you're looking for a big-screened netbook to watch HD movies along with internet and office productivity, then the 1201T is a decent and cheap option. Let's hope the Eee PC 1201PNL (with an Intel Atom-NVIDIA ION combination) gives us what's missing from this netbook.

The recently launched Asus Eee PC 1201T is a 12-inch netbook based on AMD's Athlon Neo MV-40 1.6GHz processor. The Asus Eee PC 1201T is a great performing 12-inch netbook. The Eee PC 1201T has a nice keyboard, good textured touchpad, and a pretty good screen. Its battery life may not be as impressive as some other netbooks in our Top 5, but buy the Eee PC 1201T if you need a better performing netbook with a large hard drive, screen and keyboard.

A lighter version of the 1201N, the Asus Eee PC 1201NL is a slim, nicely designed netbook with an NVIDIA ION chipset. Compact and light in spite of its 12.1 inch screen, the Eee PC 1201 gives good multimedia performance and is a stylish looking machine. The ION chipset means it can handle video no problem. The Atom and 1 GB of RAM do unfortunately impose certain limitations however, holding back the chipset a good deal.

Here's the real kicker: Asus probably should have held on releasing the 1201PN until Optimus  was ready for the Ion 2 platform. Had Optimus come on this machine, we can imagine things turning out a lot better for the 1201PN. If we could switch off the discrete GPU and use the IGP when needed, we suspect battery life figures would've been far better. And what's a little bothersome, aside from the lack of Optimus.

Unveiled as the first Atom Netbook featuring a next-gen Nvidia Ion processor, the $499 Asus Eee PC 1201PN is an update to the very similarly named Asus Eee PC 1201N we reviewed at the beginning of 2010. As the first next-gen Nvidia Ion Netbook, the Asus Eee PC 1201PN is a bit of a misnomer--offering single-core Atom performance and no automatic graphics switching in an expensive package that underperforms its predecessor.

The Asus EeePC 1201PN is a little costlier than your average netbook, because you're paying a premium for more system memory and an Nvidia Ion chipset. Although graphics and battery scores improve, processor speed takes a hit with the new single-core Atom N450. Overall, the 1201PN is a very good 12-inch, oversized netbook, but I rather you wait for the dual-core version or go with the Lenovo IdeaPad S12. If you don't need the graphics horsepower or a bigger screen, go with a smaller netbook like the Editors' Choice Toshiba mini NB305-N410 or HP Mini 5102. You'll save some money, too.

Asus and Nvidia deserve credit for improving on on the best 12-inch multimedia netbook. For $499, the Eee PC 1201PN offers longer battery life and better graphics performance than its predecessor. However, this system's CPU often feels like a bottleneck compared to the 1201N's dual-core CPU, as we often had to wait for that Windows 7 circle to stop spinning. We also want Asus to banish its stiff touch button in favor of something more comfortable. Overall, the 1201PN is a good value, but some may prefer the $599 ThinkPad X100e, which offers better ergonomics, more processing power, and slightly longer battery life (though higher temps and no HDMI). The Acer Aspire Timeline 1810TZ offers even better endurance, but weak graphics. Still, if you're on a budget, this Eee PC is a good bet. Or wait until September, when Asus will offer a mobile dual-core version of this machine paired with Nvidia's Optimus technology (which automatically switches between integrated and discrete graphics).

After much buzz, the first major update to Nvidia’s Ion graphics chipset is finally here. Nvidia calls it, prosaically, "Next-Generation Ion" (we'll term it "Ion 2" for short), and we got to test-drive it inside an Asus Eee PC 1201pn, a 12.1-inch netbook built around an Intel Atom N450 (Pine Trail) CPU. Equipped with Nvidia’s next-gen graphics and an Intel Pine Trail processor, this netbook offers excellent media playback and a roomy screen.

Asus: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. is een grote Taiwanese fabrikant van computerhardware gevestigd in Taipei, opgericht in 1989. Onder de merknaam Asus produceert het bedrijf een breed scala aan producten, waaronder laptops, desktops, moederborden, grafische kaarten, monitoren, smartphones en netwerkapparatuur, complete systemen en pc-onderdelen voor eindgebruikers.

Onder de merknaam ROG (Republic of Gamers) produceert ASUS gaming laptops die bij gamers bekend staan om hun krachtige specificaties, speciale grafische kaarten, schermen met hoge verversingssnelheid en geavanceerde koelsystemen.

Naast gaming wordt een breed scala aan notebooks aangeboden voor verschillende behoeften en budgetten, van ultraslanke en lichtgewicht ultrabooks tot veelzijdige 2-in-1 convertibles en budgetvriendelijke opties. In 2023 had Asus wereldwijd een marktaandeel van 7% op de pc-markt.

De klanttevredenheid over ASUS-notebooks heeft betrekking op de prestaties, de functies en de goede prijs-prestatieverhouding van ASUS-notebooks. Zoals bij elk merk zijn er echter af en toe meldingen van problemen zoals oververhitting, drivercompatibiliteit of problemen met de bouwkwaliteit.

Alleen oudere games kunnen vloeiend draaien met deze grafische chips (als ze niet veeleisend zijn). Gedeeld geheugen grafische cores in deze categorie hebben het voordeel van minder warmte-ontwikkeling en langere batterijlooptijd. Voor kantoor, internet, beeldcorrectie- en videomonteringswerk zijn deze grafische chips nog steeds bruikbaar zonder enige beperkingen.

NVIDIA GeForce 9400M (G) / ION (LE): Geïntegreerde (gedeeld geheugen) videokaart. Gebruikt in de huidige MacBook, MacBook Pro en MacBook Air laptops. Ookwel GeForce 9400M G Snelst beschikbare moederbord GPU (ruwweg 2000 punten in 3Dmark06 met DDR3 geheugen, 1500 met DDR2), PureVideo HD (VP3) video processor ondersteunt.

ATI Radeon HD 3200: Onboard (gedeeld geheugen) grafische chip (op RS780M chipset) gebaseerd op de HD 2400 chip. Beschikt ook over de UVD video engine om HD video’s te decoderen. Voor de rest ondersteunt de kaast Hybrid CrossfireX (voor versnelling) en PowerXpress (om energie te besparen) in combinatie met een dedicated grafische kaart (van de HD 3000 serie).

NVIDIA ION 2: ION2 is een GT218 videochip voor Pinetrail Atom systemen (D510, D410, N450) met 8 of 16 shader cores, afhankelijk van het platform (10”, 12”, desktop). Vergeleken met de eerdere ION 1, is de ION 2 een dedicated videokaart (met enkel een PCIe 1x connectie door de Pinetrail beperkingen) gebaseerd op de GeForce 305M / 310M. Ondersteund PureVideo HD om HD video’s te decoderen.

Deze grafische kaarten voor notebooks zijn niet bruikbaar voor games. Als ze al games kunnen draaien, dan doen ze dat met grafische afwijkingen en heel lage framesnelheid. Voor gamers zijn deze chips ongeschikt! Kantoor en internet taken zijn, daarentegen, geen probleem voor deze GPUs.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 500: Geïntegreerde (onboard) videokaart op de UL11L, US15L en US15W chipsets met een gelicensieerde PowerVR SGX core. DirectX 10.1 ondersteuning, maar door de lage kloksnelheden (100-200 MHz UL11L-US15) en maar 4 shaders is hij niet geschikt voor 3D games. De geïntegreerde video decodeerder versnelt het afspelen van HD video’s (MPEG2, VC-1, AVC).

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 950: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 is een geïntegreerde (onboard) grafische chip op de Mobile Intel 945GM chipset. Dit is een snellere kloksnelheid versie van de GMA 900.

Intel Atom:

Z520: Energie efficiënte single core CPU met erg lage prestaties. Heeft meer functies (stroombesparing, VT-x) dan de N serie Atoms.

N270: Energiezuinig, goedkoop en trage netbook single core CPU. Door de in-order uitvoering zijn de prestaties per MHz lager dan van een Core Solo of Celeron M processor.

N450: Intel Atom CPU voor netbooks met geïntegreerde geheugencontroller en een GMA 3150 GPU. De prestaties van het systeem zullen slechts iets hoger zijn dan van eerdere Atom N280 / GMA 950 systemen.

Dit gewicht is typisch voor erg grote tablets, subnotebooks, ultrabooks en convertibles met een 11-13 inch schermdiagonaal.

1.45 kg:

78.23%: Dit cijfer is niet echt overtuigend. Het moet in acht worden genomen dat er bijna geen laptops zijn die een score onder de 60% hebben. Dit notebook is beneden gemiddeld beoordeeld, en is niet aanbevolen te kopen.
